Independent documentary called "The Image of Black Women" will be premiering at The August Wilson Center Saturday, March 17th at 6p. This film deals with diversity, stereotypes and how everyday people are affected by them.

Please join us for the premiere of this brief, but thought-provoking documentary on how the current image of Black women and their portrayal by mass media affects real life women. We invite al participants to reflect on not only these individual women and their stories, but how women as a whole are affected by these caricatures and stereotypes. As we become more technologically advanced and have access to more images and information more rapidly, as a society we are also gradually becoming desensitized to violence and the voice of women. Where does this come from? Who benefits from the perpetuation of these lies? Let's begin to canceling these images and writing our own narrative!

The premier starts Saturday, March 17th 6p at The August Wilson Center; afterwards there will be live performance and a cocktail reception to discuss these and other ideas. Please come!!
