Registry Repair Permissions
Generally speaking, Administrator permissions are needed to install any software on a PC that is running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. So, it is logical administrator privileges are needed to install a registry cleaner. Also, you will need administrator privileges to remove registry corruption from your Windows operating systems registry.
You also need administrator privileges if you want to clean the registry manually by using the built-in program Regedit. To even further complicate the situation, Windows 7 may have blocked Regedit privileges altogether when an installer who used special "Installer" privileges limited the privileges of an Administrator.
Clean, Don't Modify
Though this sounds intrusive, it is really not a bad thing. In this day and age there is really no reason to modify a registry manually. The only reason why I could see anyone would ever want to make modifications to an operating system's registry through Regedit is for training purposes. A lot can be learned about how Windows works by fooling around in the registry. Unfortunately, an operating system can be disabled altogether if the wrong thing is added to or subtracted from the registry.
Anything that a user needs to control, modify, erase or change, he or she can do by going to the control panel. This is true about any modern Windows operating system. Editing the registry manually has absolutely no advantage other than the thrill one may get by modifying the working files of an operating system directly.
Huge Registry - Lots of Corruption
Operating systems especially the big ones like Vista and Windows 7 have huge registries and tend to collect tons of registry corruption. So, cleaning the registry out manually would take an eternity. A registry cleaning program could do so in minutes. So, these days using registry cleaners are recommended and using Regedit is not.
