Voices For Animals' Foie Gras-Free Pittsburgh campaign gains another victory as Baum Blvd. restaurant Toast! Kitchen & Wine Bar gives a signed commitment to no longer sell foie gras.

Voices For Animals is happy to announce that after many long weeks of negotiation, we have received a signed pledge statement from Toast! Kitchen & Wine Bar that they will no longer sell foie gras! The statement was signed and dated May 20, 2009 by Mr. Chet Garland, the Chef and Co-Owner of Toast. The text of the pledge states:
Effective 5-20-09, Toast! Restaurant & Wine Bar (“Said Establishment”) agrees to permanently remove foie gras from its menu and furthermore, Said Establishment agrees not to sell foie gras, nor serve it or make it available by special request at any time, including for any special dinners, events, or occasions.
Also, Said Establishment agrees not to promote foie gras in any way and will remove any mention or listing of foie gras in all its public endorsements including but not limited to website menus, online advertising, newspaper and magazine advertising, and any television or radio advertising.
Furthermore, I assert that I have the authority to make and enforce this pledge.
VFA wishes to thank and congratulate Toast! and specifically Mr. Garland for making this important and ethical decision. VFA will continue to contact other local establishments that still sell foie gras as part of our Foie Gras-Free Pittsburgh campaign. If you come across any Pittsburgh-area restaurant that continues to sell foie gras, please email us at info@vfaonline.org and let us know and we’ll make them the next stop on our campaign trail.
