Remember the gal from East Mc Keesport, Pa.? Donna Jean Young with her naive personality became a household name appearing on talk shows such as Merv Griffin, Johnny Carson with Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis, John Wayne, Bert Bacharach, Pat Boone in Las Vegas and appearing on top rated shows including ground breaking Laugh In. When she met James Calcandis she moved to Australia where she did ‘Back from Nowhere’ an award winning play on youth suicide, directed by her daughter Bridget at the Sydney Opera House. Donna Jean enjoys the company of her family, especially her grand-daughters Marion and Heather, who often laugh at her brand of small town humor…. So, ‘if you’re ever on your way to Pittsburgh, Pa. you should stop off in East McKeesport. You can’t miss it, there’s a big sign that says, YOU ARE NOW ENTERING EAST McKEESPORT. It says the same thing on both sides….’
