On February 29, Pittsburgh based Calgon Carbon Corporation locked out the 60 members of USW 5032, demanding that the union employees accept drastic cuts to their healthcare and pensions. Since the lockout began union members have been staying strong, maintaining a 24-hour picket at the plant gate, doing fundraising and reaching out to community allies. Now, eight weeks into the lockout, local 5032 is escalating its campaign to end the lockout and win a fair contract.

Payday Protest at Calgon Headquarters
Friday, April 25
7:00am- 9:00am
Every morning the corporate executives at Calgon’s headquarters go to work and forget about the 60 USW members they locked out just a few miles away. This Friday is payday for the executives and as they show up to pick up their oversized paychecks (Calgon’s top five executives took raises averaging 50% last year!) we’re going to remind them that we’re not going to stop fighting until we get a fair contract!

Join us at 7:00 am as we hand out flyers in support of the locked out Steelworkers. Wear black in solidarity!

Rally at Calgon’s Annual Shareholder Meeting
Thursday, May 1
12:00 Noon
On Thursday, May 1, Calgon will be holding its annual shareholder’s meeting at its corporate headquarters in Robinson Township. Top management will be inviting shareholders, directors, analysts and the media to town to brag about its strong performance in 2007. We will be rallying outside to remind these stakeholders about management’s vicious attack on our union.

The shareholder’s meeting starts at 1 pm so our rally will start at 12 noon, SHARP. Wear black in solidarity. Following the rally members of USW 5032 will be going in to the meeting to ask management questions about the labor dispute. For more information contact Jerry Morton at 412-771-1339

Both events are outside of Calgon’s Corporate Headquarters
400 Calgon Carbon Dr.
Robinson Township
