FREE THE MOVE 9!! Hearings are being held in just a few weeks! Please write now! And get other folks to write and call too. If not paroled this year, they may all serve another 70 years. This is racism at its worst. Right here in the "Keystone State." Don't let it happen. Write right now. Please.

THEY HAVE ALL SERVED 30 OF THIER EXCESSIVE 30-100 YEAR SENTENCING. THIS IS WAY MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR 3rd DEGREE MURDER. Even if they were guilty. Public pressure is key. We need as many calls and letters as possible before the April hearings. Write AND call:

Chairman Catherine C. McVey
Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole
1101 South Front Street, Suite #5100
Harrisburg, PA 17104-2517
(717) 787-5699

Ask the board to PAROLE: Debbie Sims Africa #006307, Janet Holloway Africa #006308, Janine Phillips Africa #006309, Michael Davis Africa #AM-4973, Charles Sims Africa #AM-4975, William Phillips Africa #AM-4984, Delbert Orr Africa #AM-4985, and Edward Goodman Africa #AM-4974

Writing Chairman McVey is very important. Letters, or copies, can also be sent to each of the nine board members. Thier names are on this web page (use the board address above for each one):

March XX, 2008

Regarding: 2008 Parole of Eight Prisoners:

Debbie Sims Africa #006307, Janet Holloway Africa #006308, Janine Phillips Africa
#006309, Michael Davis Africa #AM-4973, Charles Sims Africa #AM-4975, William Phillips
Africa #AM-4984, Delbert Orr Africa #AM-4985, and Edward Goodman Africa #AM-4974

Catherine C. McVey
Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole
1101 South Front Street, Suite #5100
Harrisburg, PA 17104-2517

Dear Mrs. McVey,

Please parole Chuck, Debbie, Delbert, Eddie, Janet, Janine, Mike, and Phil Africa this
year. They have not caused any major disciplinary problems during the past three decades.
They have spent most of their lives in prison; please allow them to be a part, and
contribute to, society as free citizens.

The incident which caused them to be incarcerated was a result of alleged non-criminal
housing code violations. It escalated into violence. The sentencing judge stated publicly
that he did not have the faintest idea who shot the one bullet that killed the one person
that day, August 8, 1978. Merle Africa, who has died in prison, and these surviving eight
have paid a terrible price for what happened on that day.

I am convince that these individuals were, and are, committed to improving their lives and
the world around them. They were living free of drugs and alcohol, eating healthy food and
demonstrating for clean water and humane treatment of animals. These are not criminally
minded people. Thirty years is more than enough for anything that they could have done. If
anything, they were protecting their children and themselves from excessive force. Fire
hoses, tear gas, and bullets not only blind and scare people, they can easily kill
children. This is what they were experiencing as a result of their alleged housing code
violations. They have certainly served enough time.

Please grant them all parole in 2008.

Respectfully,

(sign)

Debbie Africa...

Fearing possible abuse and brutality, Debbie did not tell guards she was pregnant when she was arrested. Only when she was sure Mike Jr. was OK, and felt he would be safe, did she tell prison officials about the new baby. Mike Jr. is now a proud father and hopes to see his parents in street clothes for the first time this year. He looks forward to really getting to know them and allowing them to get to know thier grandchildren.

Janine Africa...

Janine and her husband Phil had two babies killed by police violence. Baby "Life" Africa was stomped to death in 1976. Phil Jr. was shot and burnt to death in 1985.

Phil Africa

Phil Africa...

Father of two children who were murdered by Philadelphia police. Phil is also an exceptional artist and jack of many trades. Police first reported that the bullet fragment found in the slain officer matched the caliber of a rifle purchased and owned by Phil. Only later did police admit that officers on the scene ALSO were carrying guns of that same caliber.

Mike Africa...

Father of Mike Jr., husband of Debbie. Mike Sr. gave a talk once entitled "Where's the Rage?" Far from aggressive and loud, his talk is a gentle and compassionate plea for a better world, in fact a demand for one. It is the final track on Kevin Price's acoustic album "Until It Falls."

Janet Africa

Janet Africa...

Prison does not bring Janet, or any of the MOVE family, down too much. They are proud and happy to be struggling for all of life. Janet says, "THANKS TO JOHN AFRICA I'M TRULY SATISFIED, SECURE AND HAVE THE LIFE I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR. I AM STRONG, LOYAL, HEALTHY, AND COMMITTED TO FIGHT FOR ALL OF LIFE. I WOULDN'T TRADE THAT FOR NOTHING."
