Malik Zulu Shabazz Lecture
by Quinten Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at 7:08 AM

Lecture: 1 hr 40 minutes, Q+A is 1 hr 20 minutes. From the leader of the New Black Panther Party, speaking at Carnegie Mellon on Thursday, 17 February 2005.

audio: ogg vorbis at 26.5 mebibytes

I recommend listening to the Q+A. Most of the lecture is Shabazz complaining about people who opposed his lecture. Also, several good questions during the Q+A exposed a lot of Shabazz's positions that he had been dodging earlier in the lecture. Near the end, Dennis Roddey's question and that of a young biracial woman were especially interesting.

Shabazz: The Black Ben Gurion?
by Anon Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at 9:48 AM

Shabazz's vision can be summed up as an America with a thriving black community in which black entrepreneurs are employing black labor, with education for blacks controlled by blacks, and products from black factories traded in international markets. Black segregation and retetion of capital by blacks within black communities is key to strengthening the black community, according to Shabazz.

Like Shabazz's vision for blacks, Ben Gurion had a vision of an Israel with Jewish towns and factories built using Jewish labor, with Jewish education, Jewish entertainment, and so on.

The founders of Israel suggested seperation of Jews as the answer to European mistreatment and discrimination against Jews. Separation was the way to "normalising" the Jewish condition, since Europeans will always view Jews as aberrations from normality. Similarly, Shabazz is convinced that whites in America will never view blacks as "normal" people, so separatism is the answer.

The key difference between the vision of Shabazz and that of the creators of Isreal is that the former does not prescribe that blacks of the black diaspora travel to some part of the world and expropriate land from indigenous people's using "absentee property laws" or other dishonest means.

"How big were the slave catching nets?"
by Anon Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at 10:57 AM

"How big were the slave catching nets?" Stan, you didn't attend the lecture, did you? Shabazz feels that Africa owes him reparations too. He did *not* pin all of the blame of slavery on whites. He did state that Jews, Arabs, and Africans were all involved.

If Jews can collect reparations from Germany and Switzerland, why can't blacks collect reparations from parties responsible for enslaving them? Is it because the Jewish holocaust was more recent? More "traceable"? Or is it an argument based on practicality? Is it true that some Jews are still collecting money from Germany to this day?

A couple people wanted to know how to play the files from the Shabazz lecture. They are ogg vorbis encoded. Ogg vorbis is a newer codec for sound that offers better quality at low bitrates. You can find a player on this page:

Shabazz: NOT the Black Ben Gurion
by Anon Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 10:18 AM

While some of the similarities you are noticing are accurate, I disagree with the main premise, that Shabazz is in any way comparable to Ben Gurion.

First of all, Ben Gurion and the Zionists championed a "Jewish homeland" in Israel as just that - a state for the Jews as a nationality, in the same way that Germans have Germany, British have Britain, etc - since as you said, Jews were being discriminated against and mistreated in many other nations. Today there are many African nations which are under Black leadership, and where Black people can keep capital in their own communities, there is Black education, etc. This was not the case for Jews in the early 1900s. In Germany, the European country where Jews had previously felt most welcome... well, you know what happened. These were the motivations for Zionism, not necessarily an agenda of separatism. After all, many (most, even?) "Zionists" today live in the US and Europe, but support the idea of a Jewish state (agreeing with every action of this state is a different story, of course). Also, unlike Shabazz, Ben Gurion never espoused an ideology of hate and negativity towards other races. He believed in empowering Jews, but not at the expense of other races/nationalities. I strongly disagree with the idea of "Black power" hinging on racism towards whites or other groups.

Second, your description of the vision of Zionists "[to] expropriate land from indigenous people's using 'absentee property laws' or other dishonest means" shows either an ignorance of history, or plain blatant hatred towards Israel (learning Jewish history from Shabazz is like learning Black history from the KKK, as someone pointed out, so maybe you need some better sources.)

First of all, the Jewish people have always considered the land where Israel now is their homeland, and in fact, some Jews have always lived there. I'm not saying that a connection to the land is a justification for any wrongdoing to those who were currently living on it, but that's another story. One can criticize Israel's policies without calling for it's destruction. Also, even people who are today anti-Israel can tell you that all of the land that Jewish settlers lived on was bought legally. (True, not necessarily from those living on it, but from the owners of the land, often Turks or Arabs living elsewhere.) Also, the "Jewish state" definitely includes non-Jews, unlike Shabazz's dream of Black separatism, which is founded on his hate for whites (how many times is the word "cracker" used on the NBP website?).

Where you are absolutely correct is the connection between Black self-determination and empowerment, and Jewish self-determination and empowerment. Jews and Blacks should continue to support each other as they have done in the past, instead of burning bridges, as Shabazz is doing. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a strong proponent of Zionism, and Jews were prominent among those who fought for civil rights, registered black voters in the south, spoke out for black rights, etc.

Stop spreading lies
by Anon Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 11:29 AM

No one advocated destroying the Jewish race or called for Jewish destruction.

Malik spoke openly about his resentment of the Palestinian situation which most sane people do resent. He also stated the the UN referred to Zionism as racism in the resolution of 82. I dont know how factual this is but the point still remains, Malik does not hate Jews or calls for their destruction.

He hates what happened to the Palestinians and to his own people and he thinks both groups should be compensated for their struggle.

Please stop constantly spreading lies about what was said and how it was said. No one called for the destruction of the Jews! this is absolutely absurd.

lies?
by Anon Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 12:25 PM

There was no claim that Shabazz, in his speech here, called for destruction of Jews. The mention was about Shabazz (and others who hate Zionists) who DO call for a destruction of Israel, instead of calling for specific reforms of policies. The whole notion of anti-Zionism is based on the fact that Israel has no right to exist in the first place. I don't think you can deny that Shabazz hates Israel/Zionism, but about Jews, from adl's http://www.adl.org/Anti_semitism/shabazz.asp:

During a protest in front of the B’nai B’rith building in Washington, D.C. (April 20, 2002), Shabazz led chants of:

"death to Israel," "the white man is the devil," and "Jihad." Shabazz also said, "Kill every goddamn Zionist in Israel! Goddamn little babies, goddamn old ladies! Blow up Zionist supermarkets!"

And the UN resolution equating Zionism with racism never passed (this is info from NBP's own site). Shabazz can blame this on politics, but that is his opinion, not fact.

PS - Maybe that one fact was mis-stated, but what about everything else? Shabazz != Ben Gurion, plain and simple.

As usual, the personal attacks of "ignorance" and "hatred toward Israel" are unleashed when your facts are lacking. Please, prove me wrong with facts, if you are able to.

Also, the ADL and B'nai Brith have their own agendas and are completely unreliable sources. Can you find a single article in the ADL's website critical of Israel? Shouldn't the ADL, which claims "to secure justice and fair treatment to all" carry an article on how Palestinians in Israel are treated unfairly, as third-class citizens, deprived of equal funding in schools, denied of the right to purchase land, denied citizenship even if they marry an Israeli, and so on?

ADL
by Anon Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 1:57 PM

What reasons can you see for the ADL to be making up that large number of quotes of Shabazz? There is definitely enough real hatred in the world for them to need to make any up. Also, since Shabazz recommended Henry Ford's book (the Int'l Jew) as part of his "reading list," I don't doubt his anti-semitism at all, which makes me think the ADL didn't make anything up.

About the ADL: their mission is basically to be on the lookout for instances of anti-semitism, and "defamation" of jews. I'm sure that many groups have a similar organization that does this sort of research/media-checking for them. I don't see why the ADL needs to be responsible for keeping track of absolutely all of the world's evils - let them stick to their topics/issues, and you can get info about Israel's mistakes/injustices elsewhere. There is certainly plenty of it out there. The ADL does not go around denying these facts, it just doesn't report on them cause this isn't it's purpose. btw - I agree with you that Israel does some messed up shit, and that ADL has it's own agenda. Who doesn't do messed up shit, and who/what organization doesn't have it's own agenda? The trick for us is trying to wade through all of this and make a fair judgement/get to the truth. In this case, we weren't debating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (another time, maybe?), but only someone's comment that Shabazz is comparable to Ben Gurion. Which I don't see any more reasonable defense for.

I don't think attacking the source of information (as long as it is reasonably well-known and respected, like the ADL) is really a valid way of countering an argument, because then there's absolutely no point in arguing, ever. We could always just mistrust each other's "biased" sources.

Race & Black Power

Response: I understand that you're saying Zionism was simply Jewish nationalism. But what defines a Jew? Something genetic, appearance, whether one's mother is a Jew? What basis of "Jewishness" does Israel use to admit Jews into its borders? Were the "original Jews" black, as Shabazz claims, or is his claim resting on junk anthropology?

Someone wrote: In Germany, the European country where Jews had previously felt most welcome... well, you know what happened. These were the motivations for Zionism, not necessarily an agenda of separatism.

Response: I disagree. Zionism was well established well before the rise of Hitler. What the Holocaust did was to increase the collective guilt of the Western world, resulting in Allied help is abetting the establishment and legitimization of Israel. However, if you meant to say that the Holocaust increased the number of Zionists worldwide, that's possible.

Someone wrote: He [Ben Gurion] believed in empowering Jews, but not at the expense of other races/nationalities. I strongly disagree with the idea of "Black power" hinging on racism towards whites or other groups.

Response: Does Shabazz's message of "black power" really hinge on hating whites as much as it seems to? I think it hinges more on his sense of vicitimization of blacks through the slave trade. Hence, the images of lynchings displayed behind him as he spoke. Hence, Shabazz's visualization of being in the belly of a slave ship when the lights went out. Hence, Shabazz's sympathy with all other peoples around the world, such as Palestinians, who he believes share his sense of victimization.

And this sense of victimization is how Shabazz's vision is similar to Zionism, which hinges on the victimization of Jews through their history. Indeed, what Shabazz preaches can be described as "black nationalism" but without a state.

ADL
by Anon Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 2:50 PM

A simple question on the reliability of the ADL's quotes on Shabazz:

If it is true that Shabazz said:
"death to Israel," "the white man is the devil," "Jihad." "Kill every goddamn Zionist in Israel! Goddamn little babies, goddamn old ladies! Blow up Zionist supermarkets!"

then shouldn't Shabazz have been fined/jailed for the last statement?

Either that, or ADL is making things up, or ADL can't sufficiently back up what it's quoting. Even a simple tape recording should suffice in putting him behind bars for the last statement since it's not protected speech.

To argue that the ADL can't cover every issue in the world and therefore isn't obliged to cover injustices against Palestinians is a gross marginalization of the magnitude of the plight of the Palestinians. The ADL is clearly not committed "to secure justice and fair treatment to all." I stick to my rejection of the ADL as a trustworthy source of information.

who respects ADL, Shabazz's antisemitism
by Anon Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 at 8:58 AM

In answer to someone's comment of "who respects the ADL," I can say that lots of people do. The Black community and Jewish community certainly do, as do most American organizations in general. From Wikipedia:

"ADL speaks out against some voices in the Black-community, especially the black supremacist group Nation of Islam. However, the ADL also works to combat racism against all racial groups, including racism against blacks. In 1997 the National Center for Black-Jewish Relations of Dillard University (a historically black university in New Orleans) awarded the director of the ADL, Abraham H. Foxman, with the first Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. - Donald R. Mintz Freedom and Justice Award."

So you're right, the ADL *could* cover racism against the Palestinians, and I think it would be great if it did. However, I think they are respected, successful and honest in their main goal, which is to combat the defamation of Jews. Also, I challenge you to find one strongly pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel group (as well-respected and known in the US as the ADL is) that covers anti-semitism in the Arab world. I think you'll find everyone has an agenda and is only covering their side of the story.

Also, a quick google for Shabazz's name shows many sources verifying his antisemitism, and anti-American, anti-Jewish sentiments. One of the first I saw was from the Washington City Paper, quoting the same "Kill the Jews" chant as ADL, from a speech at Howard U (Howard verifiably got a lot of bad press after this). http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/archives/cover/2001/cover0119.html
Do they have a Zionist agenda, too?

As for why he's not in jail/fined, I'm not sure. I think that it's not that easy to convict/fine someone if you cannot prove that his words *actually* incited violence. Free speech in general is allowed to be hateful, but it's not supposed to convince people to commit violent acts. Or something like that. Anyway, the issue isn't perfectly clear like you want it to be, and there's a lot of discussion and disagreement about the fact that the first amendment doesn't protect inciteful speech, from what I read.

victimization
by Anon Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 at 9:30 AM

Your argument is well-written and well-stated.

"But what defines a Jew? Something genetic, appearance, whether one's mother is a Jew? What basis of "Jewishness" does Israel use to admit Jews into its borders? Were the "original Jews" black, as Shabazz claims, or is his claim resting on junk anthropology?"

The same thing defines a Jew as defines a Black person, or a member of any other group - desire to be identified as a Jew. As someone pointed out on miscmarket, "Black nationalism" only makes sense in that Blacks were grouped this way by others and collectively discriminated against for many years. What else do Blacks in the US have in common except a common history of persecution/slavery? Skin color/appearance isn't meaningful, since most science agrees that there is no real genetic basis for race. And if you are, let's say, only 1/4 black, are you black or not? Seems like the answer is 'if you want to be.'
Also, in Europe/USSR (where many Israeli Jews came from) Judaism was considered a race, not a religion like in the US, so your papers would say "Jew" whether you liked it or not. Those were the people who were allowed into Israel, and for the most part, the only people who wanted in. However, Israel also air-lifted many Black Ethiopian Jews into its borders.
I don't know if "the original Jews" were black. They were probably dark. Don't most people think that Jesus was dark-skinned? Why does it matter, though?

As for your claim that victimization is the force that drives Shabazz and also drove support for the original Zionists, you're probably right. But he also spouts hate towards other groups and claims as the ideal a Black-only utopia, which is something Ben Gurion/Zionists never did. The way you describe nationalism, it is always bad and has an ugly side, but I don't think eliminating nationalism from the world is possible.

In summary, I have no problem with nationalism of any group unless it includes violence/hate towards others, and this is where I state that Shabazz is NOT Ben Gurion, and thus does not deserve our serious consideration/support.

BTW, for comparison, do you think that Jewish hate towards modern-day Germans is prevalent today? In the same way that this woulnd't be acceptable, neither should Shabazz's "the burden is on the white man to prove he isn't evil" be. I have heard Holocaust survivors speak, and none of them are as angry and hateful as he is - why is that?

ADL
by anti_racist Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 at 2:00 PM

Ok, there are a lot of injustices in the world. China oppresses Tibet, pretty much all Arab governments are very oppressive, there is an ongoing genocide in Sudan, etc. It is an impossible task for any one organization to cover and report all these problems. There are organizations that specialize in dealing with Tebet, others specialize on Sudan, or Palestinian refugees, while ADL specializes in dealing with anti-Semitism. It is therefore very stupid to question its credibility based on the fact that it does not cover some other group that has never intended to cover. Do you automatically conclude that your dentist’s skills are poor because he can’t draw?

by anti_racist Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 at 2:10 PM

While there are certain problems in Israel’s treatment of Arab minority, Israeli Arabs have more rights then Arabs in any Arab country. They are free to organize political parties, vote (women too), criticize the government, etc. There are some peace plans that suggest giving Gaze to Israel in exchange to the Arab populated areas of the north. And believe it or not, Arabs of the north are the biggest opponents to that plan. While some admit to some level of discrimination, they understand, much more then you do, that they would have been 1000 times more oppressed in any other Arab state.

Zionism, ADL, continued
by Anon Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 at 5:23 PM

> The same thing defines a Jew as defines a Black person, or a member of any other group - desire to be identified as a Jew.

Agreed. If we all defined ourselves as just "human beings" - it would make the world a better place. The post "stop bs" is a diversion posted by an obviously condescending individual. I will not dignify it with a response. Read the last paragraph for my response on the ADL.

> As someone pointed out on miscmarket, "Black nationalism" only makes sense in that Blacks were grouped this way by others and collectively discriminated against for many years.

Are you sure that's the "only" way in which black nationalism makes sense? Are you sure afrocentricity has nothing to do with it? Anyway, this has no bearing on my argument regarding black nationalism and zionism emerging from a common perception of victimization.

> I don't know if "the original Jews" were black. They were probably dark. Don't most people think that Jesus was dark-skinned? Why does it matter, though?

First, I don't think most people believe Jesus was black. Second, it matters if "the original Jews" were black because then Shabazz's methods for rallying black pride and afrocentricity aren't based on false/distorted history. The most effective way of completely discrediting Shabazz would be to show that his facts are wrong. So far, nobody has done this.

> As for your claim that victimization is the force that drives Shabazz and also drove support for the original Zionists, you're probably right. But he also spouts hate towards other groups and claims as the ideal a Black-only utopia, which is something Ben Gurion/Zionists never did.

Shabazz never said he wants a Black-only America. I do agree that his fiery militant style, combined with bitterness and anger about the past, can encourage hatred toward other groups. But to really determine whether he has perpetuated hate, you should ask attendees of the talk whether they now hate white people or Jews or gays any more or less than before because of what Shabazz had said.

Maybe because Holocaust survivors were partly compensated through reparations from Germany? Give Shabazz and all descendants of slaves equal reparations and I'll go on a limb and say their rhetoric would become less angry, bitter, and hateful.

Ben Gurion was a member of Irgun, a terrorist organization that bombed the King David Hotel. Do you think the NBPP is a terrorist organization? Doesn't that make Shabazz *less* of a militant compared to Ben Gurion and Begin?

Regarding the ADL, it has an "international affairs" section that could easily cover the Palestinian situation. Please don't delude yourself about this. Their goal isn't just to cover Jewish defamation, but also "to secure fair treatment and justice TO ALL." The question "Do you automatically conclude that your dentist’s skills are poor because he can’t draw" is an incorrect analogy to the ADL's case. You're missing the point.

"Maybe because Holocaust survivors were partly compensated through reparations from Germany? Give Shabazz and all descendants of slaves equal reparations and I'll go on a limb and say their rhetoric would become less angry, bitter, and hateful."

Yeah, ok, those holocaust survivors were mad, but once they got some money, they swiftly changed their minds and said "alright, we're happy now. Yay Germany!" NO. What you are saying is completely wrong. The reason they don't hate modern-day Germans because they realize that they aren't the same Nazis as committed the holocaust, and because a sincere effort has been made to correct the errors of the past.

Justifying Shabazz's hate towards whites is the continued weak point in your otherwise strong arguments. There's no excuse for hating an entire group of people based on what their ancestors did, or even based on what some members of that group do today.

As for reparations - your statement saying that if blacks got reparations, they'd be less angry and hateful doesn't hold up. It's like saying the KKK wouldn't hate black people so much if the crime rate amongst black teens went down. There's no justification for racism. According to your logic, Israelis have the right to hate Palestinians because there are so many hundreds of suicide bombing attempts per week in Israel.

As for reparations, do you really think they are reasonable? Many (most?) whites who live in the US's ancestors came here after slavery, and similarly for blacks. I don't think we should inherit the sins of our forefathers. My family came to the US in 1989, and my (black) roommate's family came from Haiti also during this century. But I owe her money now? Ridiculous! There's absolutely no way to sort it out fairly anymore. Shabazz and co. seem to want an "all whites pay to all blacks" approach. Germany gave money ONLY to holocaust survivors, not to their descendants, and the program started in (I believe) the 50s, so all of the people paying were actually those living in Nazi Germany at the time.
I agree that America's horrible past is definitely responsible for causing some (note:only SOME) of the problems of Black people today, but isn't that what affirmative action and similar programs are supposed to be addressing?
Anyway, as you said, the best way is to consider ourselves all "human beings" and admit that though all of our ancestors tortured each other, those of us living *today* need to get over it and worry about more pressing issues.

This is a misrepresentation and exaggeration of what I had written. Calculating who will pay and in what amount is difficult, and Shabazz answered it by saying, "Well, you'd have to add it all up." Personally I don't like the idea of exchanging money for lives.

correction, sorry
by anon Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 4:57 AM

Correction, from washingtoncitypaper:

Shabazz: "Who is it that controls the media and Hollywood in America?"
Crowd: "Jews!"
Shabazz: "Who is it that has our entertainers in a vise grip and our athletes in their vise grip?"
Crowd: "Jews!"
Shabazz: "Who is it that has been spying on black leaders and spying on Martin Luther King and set up his death?"
Crowd: "Jews!"

You're right, I'm sorry for the mistake. I was thinking about the fact that this quote matches up to one of the ADL ones and wrote the wrong thing. Anyway, this doesn't incite violence, but is enough proof that Shabazz is ridiculous and anti-semitic, which is all I was trying to say. At CMU he asked all the Jews/Zionists to raise hands and proceeded to insult them and call them racists. I'd say that is pretty bad, wouldn't you?

This whole ordeal was a disaster for both "sides". I know both "sides" think they're right and that these events did what they were supposed to, but from my perspective (as an attendee of both the unity rally and talk who is neither african american nor jewish) I felt simply disgust and sadness at almost everyone involved.

The unity rally was handled extremely poorly and did nothing but play into Shabazzes hands. The primary organizer of it is the same person who organized the Abu protest a couple weeks ago for crying out loud.

And yes, Shabazz is clearly anti-semitic. I couldn't confirm whether he was homophobic or not from siting through his talk.

Well, from the part I heard, he mentioned that he did not agree with women being sexually involved with one another, and believe he made a reference to black men taking care of their black women so they didn't wind-up with another woman. He clearly doesn't agree with the lifestyle. In addition, there was a lot of other hating going on, with some odd "scholarly" references to racist white Christian identity movement authors, quoting various new testament passages for support that Jews who did not accept Jesus were of questionable moral character, and, of course, recommending attendees read Henry Ford's writings on the Jews. And then this stuff on "ice people." It's unfortunate that his message of empowerment comes along with race prejudice as part of the package. I also fail to see how "black capitalism" is going to empower black workers.

Israel's apologists and the MLK Jr. hoax
by c Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 1:22 PM

Dr. King was not a "strong proponent" of Zionism. For an article on the subject you can go to:

http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article2356.shtml

Certainly any serious student of the Civil Rights Movement, knows that Dr. King fought for democracy and equality for all, and not separation based on religion, ethnicity or race. Zionism proposes something else, indeed. Separation from the Palestinian indigious population. Palestinians are denied the right to return to their homelands. Would King support this? Would Dr. King support an apartheid wall? Would he support Apache helicopters and F-16s bombing villages? Would he support demolishing homes and uprooting olive trees? Would he support the idea that one group of people in Israel should have rights that are denied the others? How on earth can anyone continue to say that Dr. King supports Zionism. It's absurd.

I listened to this e and was disgusted. This man is a disgrace to the past leaders of the civil rights movement.

I wouldn't call this a lecture. The man stands for an hour and a half talking about "honkeys" and Jews. Whenever he can't think of something intelligent to say he just screams "Black Power." Him and his supporters are just as racist as any white power speaker I've heard.

Shabazz doesn't scream
by Anon Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 4:00 PM

To correct the previous poster, Shabazz doesn't scream "Black Power". Those screams were coming from certain members of the audience. I think Shabazz says "Black Power" not because he runs out of intelligent things to say, but because that's his way of keeping the audience listening and participating. It's a public speaking strategy: keeping the audience engaged.

Shabazz is not a Christian
by anon Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 7:36 PM

Shabazz is a member of the Nation of Islam, which is a religion invented by militant blacks in the 20th century. It's loosely based on Islam. Malcolm X was one of its adherents until he rejected it for orthodox Islam in his 1964 pilgrimage to Mecca (the same time that he rejected separatism and stated that he thought racial harmony was perhaps possible, a year before he was killed).

You don't understand Islam
by anon Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at 6:14 AM

Islam says that there were many prophets, and that Muhammed was only the most recent. They accept the Torah and the Bible as holy books, they simply believe that Mohammed has the last word. They accept Jesus as a holy man, just not as the son of God.

Islam
by anti-zionist... Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at 6:57 AM

I certainly understand something about Islam, I just found it interesting that the Jews' status in Shabazz's eyes (as he discussed at CMU) was based in acceptance on the teachings of Jesus and not Mohammed.

Didn't the nbp webpage say they were Marxist? I find this hilarious, since that would mean the person whose ideology they most admire was a white Jew. (Ok, so he converted later.)

The same reason that we keep the last names given to our ancestors by our slave owners. We can not shake off everything given to us or put on us as a people just because it is "from those that opressed us". Slavery was a part of our history that we are not attempting to forget or erase. In order to remain unified we need to embrace the struggle and everything that accompanies it. Because regardless of if we try to get rid of everything that is associated with it, it will always be there.

racism at CMU
by Urban Guerrilla Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 at 11:06 AM

A year or so ago the Tartan ran those cartoons with the racial slurs directed at blacks. Now this guy comes and says something like "turn the lights back on honkeys!" when the room lights inexplicably go off at the start of his lecture. What the hell is going on at one of the most esteemed universities in the U.S.?

He's a racist, get over it
by Akeitay Sunday, Mar. 20, 2005 at 11:53 AM

Stop trying to cover up for Malik Zulu Shabazz. The guy is a head case and you know it. "The Jews did this", "The Jews did that". There is nothing more pathetic than a black man that has been so thoroughly branded by white racists that he actually adopts part of their philosophies (i.e. anti-semitism with color hatred simply switched around).

Some of you have challenged what the ADL has asserted in the past, i.e. the "Blow up Zionist supermarkets!". Well, go do some research and you'll find our very quickly that he actually did say those things. Is the ADL biased and a zioniest organization that tries to defame people for opposing Israel? Yup. Does that make Malik Zulu Shabazz any less of a lunatic? Nope. The guy's racist and anti-semitic to the bone, don't kid yourselves. If he walked on campus and just started screaming "F--- the Jews, F--- the whites!" they probably would have kicked him out, so he obviously had to tone it down, but he has said it in the past. I hate how people get so defensive of black racists and try to curb criticism of them simply because they're "less dangerous" than white racists. Wake up.

shabazz is a notorious race-monger and Jew-hater; the only things missing at his CMU delusional ravings were jackboots, a heavy brown wool uniform and a hackenkreutz (swastika) armband [note: EVER WONDER WHY THE FIST-IN-THE-AIR, BLACK POWER SALUTE IS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE NAZI "SIEG HEIL" SALUTE?]; when will Jews wise up and stop kissing black posteriors by pimping them with offers of diversity, inclusion, assimilation, social justice, global peace, "tikkun" (repairing), booty (!!!), and mountains of bribery dollars? no wonder the whole world looks at American Jews as craven cowards! wake up, Jews - they all despise each and every one of you, and when they decide to attack, they (along with billions of Jew-haters around the globe) will eradicate Israel and exterminate every last Jew on earth - but you just don't get it; you just know that it can't happen because somehow the Jews have always survived for 5765 years. Did you ever stop and think that perhaps G-d is finally so insulted by Jewish blasphemy, heresy, idolatry and cowardice that G-d has finally decided to allow Judaism to disappear forever. And the Jews are too sissified to do anything about their own destruction - too scared, too cowardly - a disgrace to the word "Jewish"!!!

Your article gives nagative implications about the swastika. For your education this symbol was used over 8,000 years before the birth of the reich by peoples all over the planet earth. It was originally used as a positive symbol until someone decided to incorporate it in their organizational flag as the official symbol and used for evil purposes to evoke fear into anyone who sees it.

How Dare you
by Seven Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005 at 7:20 PM

Greetings to all blacks, browns, Native Americans, and poor people.

The truth is one thing that does not change. It does not falter, it is constant. If there is some chance, some brief bit of evidence that what The Nation of Islam is bringing to light is not the truth, then let that truth stand. Let that truth come forward.

One only has to look at the nature of the beast to know how far that beast will go. I ask any one of you, do any one of you believe that this Gov. is not capable of doing what it has been said that they have done?

History shows us all that in America if you do not fit the design you are pulled out of the picture. Africans did not migrate to the United States of America by purchasing a ticket with their life savings. They were not huddled masses looking for a better life. Ghana and Mowli were thriving cities.

Africans were abducted, drowned, raped, murdered, enslaved, and forced to come here. Losing their language, their families, their culture, their land, their homes...
AND STILL this is going on. Katrina has showed us that.

"HOW LONG WILL THEY KILL OUR PROPHETS WHILE WE STAND ASIDE AND LOOK."

Like the Minister said America is for sale. They like to see those Benjamins. Let's buy it. Let's buy it all!! I will definitely be sending my dollar a week.

It is time to stand up for your rights people. Black, Brown, Native Americans...

I WILL NOT BE A SLAVE!!!!!!!!!

Free Political Prisoners!

You'll have to look long and hard to find a more nauseating instance of cowardly groveling and butt-smooching than the craven white kid trying to get Shabazz to shake his hand at the beginning of the Q & A session. This is why Shabazz is able to speak with almost complete impunity on college campuses. Nobody has the balls to stand up to him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, in fact, I find it hilarious. You gutless pissant white kids deserve to have guys like Shabazz emasculating you right in your own universities, right in front of your friends and loved ones. Your ancestors must be proud... LOL!

"If Jews can collect reparations from Germany and Switzerland, why can't blacks collect reparations from parties responsible for enslaving them?"

That's actually an excellent point, and in fact, I wholeheartedly agree. Every black ex-slave still alive ought to receive generous compensation. No arguments there.

Problem is: slavery ended 140 years ago in America, so you'll be hard pressed to find any qualified recipients for reparations. And then of course there's the fact that the overwhelming majority of whites living in America today have no lineal connection whatsoever to the American slave trade. So the case for reparations is AT BEST very, very weak.

But hey, maybe it's a good thing. If blacks can get reparations then maybe all of us can start suing for crimes perpetrated against our great-great-great grandparents.

Reparations?
by hmmmm Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at 9:16 PM

hmmm, lets see, my ancestors didn't own slaves, so why do you want me to pay you money? Every race has suffered, Irish people suffered hardship when they came to America, but I'm not asking for money.

Get a life, and quit trying to hold your own people down by only saying how repressed they are.

People like shabazz or whatever, are the worst, making money out of their own people, claiming how repressed they are, and being an "activist" at their own peoples expense. However, they sure aren't better their cause, only pissing people off, and drowning their members minds with hate, which should make for a happy life.

Get smart people, and realize what your "activist" are really doing, think about it, if no one is "oppressed" then they are out of a job!

New party but same nonsense
by Tomaso Tuesday, May. 02, 2006 at 4:06 PM

I remember the original Black Panthers. Some were reasonal but most were not. The past is ashes. The modern Black American is only partly related to some slaves of the past because of genetics. They look like them just as I look like a European. I don't know or care about Europe any more than most blacks know or care about Africa. We are Americans. You can change your name, your religion and anything else that you like. So can I. The reality is the same. No more "boo hoo hoo" whining and moaning that you "used to be slaves." That is no more true than me saying "I use to be a German, Dutch, Sicilian European. Bull bagels! Get to work! The rules are the same for all of us. Stay in school, out of gangs and away from drugs. Elevate the two parent family and good values. In other words, behave like the best of your ancestors. The "greatest generation" did not behave like you .

Abba-chella. Abba-chella [?] All praise is due to Allah. Black power! Black power! Black power! Black power!

Giving honor to God, we bear witness that regardless to land, label or language, we bear witness that there is but one God. Whether you call that God “Allah”, whether you call that God “Yaweh,” whether you say “Christ” or “lord of lords” we bear witness that there is but one God. Whether we are in southern Africa and we hold up one finger and say “um Coolum Coolum [?]” Whether we say “patah”[?] or “amen,” “amenra”, “el elohim”, we bear witness that regardless to land, labor or language, we bear witness that there is but one God. We give thanks to Abraham, we give thanks to Moses, we give thanks to Yashua or Jesus. We give thanks to the prophet Mohammed. Peace be upon all of those prophets. But we believe that God has found favor on black people in the hells of America. So just like God revealed to Palestine. He revealed to Arabia. We bear witness that he is revealed to us - black people – God’s chosen people. He has given to us Harriet Tubman a bold black woman. He has given to us Nat Turner – a bold reverend and a bold pastor who went from plantation to plantation taking care of business. He gave to us Denmark Vesey, Toussaint L'Overture. The God gave to us Marcus Mosiah Gotham. He gave to us the black, the red, and the green – our flag. He gave to us a little bold black man from Sandasville, Georgia. The world didn’t like him, but I love him – the most honorable Elijah Mohammed. The god gave to us a bold black man, a fiery black man – minister Malcom X. Dewey P. Newton, the members of the original Panther Party, Frederick Douglass, Fannie Lou Hamer, Dr. King. We come in a great line of ancestors, a line of divine. But if I live to be a thousand – or the ripe old age of Mathusla – I could never thank God enough for a bold bald-headed black man who taught me what I know, and I come in his spirit today in what seems to be walking in his footsteps. A bold, bald-headed black man. Uncompromising and fearless – the enemy didn’t like him. But I love him. The minister and doctor Calah Abdoul Mohammed. With their names, I greet you. Black power. Ah-salam-alenka. Hotah. Shalom. Free the land. Praise the lord and pass the ammunition. Where to sister – asaleh. Let’s give this bold black number

To sister Abigail – where is sister Abigail? To the members of the SPIRIT organization. SPIRIT has the right spirit. And to the members of San Koufa. To the Nation of Islam and to the minister here in the Pittsburgh area, the minister Jahar Mohammed,

0:00

Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz,[?] brother? [applause] Black power! (“Black power!”) Black Power! (“Black power!”) Black power! (“Black power!”, applause) who is under 0:20/5:18 the leadership of the honorable minister Louis Farrakhan. (Loud applause.) And Minister Farrakhan is calling not just for one million black men, not just for what he had, two million black men, it wasn’t four hundred thousand, buddy, two million black men, but he’s calling for three, four, FIVE million black men and women. And women! (Applause.)

1:00/5:54

We thank the God for every one that spoke ON the platform. I was... to come here to give a innocent speech (“Go ahead,”), I was to come here to speak to my people (“That’s right!”), to the sisters and brothers... and others... (“That’s right!”) who are here. We are happy that you’re here. (“That’s right!”) If you got some more outside, bring ‘em in! Don’t stand outside and jump up and down and throw a temper tantrum, come on in! This is supposed to be a college campus. (female “That’s right!”) This is supposed to be where the diversity of ideas can be exchanged, and discussed and personally I’m disgusted! I am shocked and appalled at prestigious Carnegie Mellon University. (“That’s right!”) They try to CRUSH free speech! (callback: “That’s right!”) They try to CRUSH free speech! [callback] Because they don’t want you to know the truth! (loud applause)

2:00/7:04

So we say to you today, get even! Like my leader told me, this is the TRUE thousands. Don’t you touch that dial buddy, (“That’s right!”) this is the TRUE thousands. We come, again, under the GUISE of the First Amendment. We come to EXCHANGE ideas; I don’t care if the Ku Klux Klan comes to campus, BRING the Klan to campus! (applause) Whatever your idea is, if you can put it forward and leave it subject to debate, BRING your ideas! but they try to crush free spech! They did everything they could to stop me from coming here today. (Yes sir!) So these students are in the legacy of Stokeley Carmichael and Kwame Nkrumah. (Loud applause, cheers.) These students are fighting the same battles that many of us fought yesterday. Trying to control us and making us to believe it is a privilege. We fought for these Constitutional rights, they were not given to us. There is not one Constitutional amendment, not one Constitutional right, that was given to us by white people, for it was the blood of [Marliss?], it was the blood of Dr. King, the blood of Medgar Evers, the blood and the struggle of Fannie Lou Hamer, the blood and the struggle of Emmett Till that gave their lives so that we may have some of the rights that we have fought, bled, and died for. In every war. And through the 400 years of our holocaust, we have been given Nothing! What we have attained is on the basis of struggle. So I don’t come to thank you tonight (Loud: Yes sir!) for your constitution. I don’t thank you for giving me some right of free speech you tried to crush that right!

4:10/9:08

I thank God and the ancestors... FOR that right. You cut my money! You took to the student council and the student government and you collaborated to conspire to cut my money, thinkin’ that that would stop our coming here tonight. (Loud applause.) You’re so arrogant! You’re so arrogant! that you believe that you have full control over your Negroes on campus! The nerve of you, during this Black History Month to try to interfere with our learning our history after you have robbed and destroyed us. (Loud applause.)

5:05/10:01

you think that by denying us, by denying me, your little funky two thousand dollars (applause, crosstalk) I’ll let you know that now I’ll come here and fight you for free! (Loud applause.) ‘Cause I’m a freedom fighter! I’ll fight you for free! It’s an honor to do battle (“Go ahead, brother”) with those who are trying to stop our rise.

5:42/10:40

Where is Rachel? (Nervous laughter.) Huh? Jumpin’ up and down outside. Let’s take it a little further. Uh, I didn’t come to duck tonight. I didn’t come to pussyfoot tonight. I didn’t come to play around, I didn’t come to beat around the bush, I didn’t come to LIGHTEN up. I came to TIDY up. (Applause.)

6:10/11:07

Don’t take me out of context. I didn’t come to pin the tail on the donkey, I came to pin the tail on the racist honky! (applause) ...at Carnegie Mellon University. That’s right! I don’t come to spare, I don’t come to take no prisoners. Diversity! If you wanna debate, I’m gonna open it up in a minute. I’m not gonna be long. But I gotta be strong. But when the question and answer session open up, buddy, you shoot your best shot, buddy. (quiet: “That’s right!”) And if you have anything that can dispute the facts that I have, then you BRING it to the table! Or you go and get one of your professors. Go get your professors of anthropology, your professors of political science, any one of your professors, bring their behinds in here!

7:00/11:57

Bring the president of the University in here, and let’s sit down and dispute what we have to say.

/12:08

You say: Malik Zulu Shabazz is a racist. Malik Zulu Shabazz is a anti-Semite. (“That’s what they say, that’s what they say.”) Malik Zulu Shabazz is a violent man or a hate-monger. You probably thought you were coming in here to see some kind of wild-eyed monster. But I’m just your brother. (“That’s right!”) And I’m a scorpion! (applause) Huh? I’m just your brother. (“That’s the devil. Get down, devil, get down. Keep talking!”)

/12:43

[male] Get the goddamn lights on. ... Get dem lights on!

/12:50

[male narrator] Someone has just turned off the lights in the auditorium. [male black] Brothers and sisters, don’t go anywhere. [female narrator, in background] ...actually, i think an electrician was called... [male black] Stay right where you are.

7:48/

[female] Everyone remain in your seats, please, everyone remain in your seats. Please be seated.

8:07/13:10

[male audience member] Put the damn lights on! Put them on now! Put them damn lights on, honkies!

[deep voice] Put the lights on! ... Somebody take control of the lights?

[male] Turn them damn lights on now!

13:30

[female narrator] Sometimes the lights just go off in this lecture hall. I... Yeah. (crosstalk in background)

[black] I don’t know what the fuck’s going on. Get down. [deep voice] ...take control of the lights.

/13:49

[Shabazz] Brothers and sisters: Black Power! (Black Power!) Black Power! (Black Power!) Black Power! (Black Power!) (screaming in background; “Black Power” picked up again)

/14:00

[male narrator] While we’re trying to find out how to turn the lights back on, everybody is dozens of cellphones throughout the room are being used to spread some light.

/14:09

[Shabazz] Listen to me. Listen to what I am saying. (“Sssh!”) Brothers and sisters, this is wonderful. This is the best example that we could have tonight of white racism. This is the best chance we have to actually during this Black History Month Gimme some room to relive what our ancestors relived. (“There you go!”) We’ll get the lights; they turning off the lights because the light has come. (“That’s right!”) Don’t go anywhere! (applause, crosstalk) We’ll get the lights fixed. You just stay right here and I’m gonna continue on with my lecture. (applause) I already remember what I’m going to say, I don’t need my notes. They want you to get frightened and leave. (“They don’t know!”) So you just stay stay tuned. Black Power! Black Power! Black Power!

/15:10

Tonight again. No mistake what I am saying. (walkie-talkie noises in background; whispering) This is what you call a freedom struggle. This is what you call a fight, just to get the truth out. (Audience noises; close to mike, white voice: “Yes sir, yes sir. ...still working on it...”)

/15:36

(“Someone needs to...” “Hey, let’s pick it up in the hall, fool, [unintelligible]”) Whoa, whoa, we not takin’ nothing they gonna turn these damn lights on. You gonna give these black students some respect, or there’s gonna be some problems tonight!

/15:59

(audience member close to mike: “How come nobody likes us. ...know exactly what it was. (Yes sir.) Know exactly where the lights are.”)

/16:12

Brothers and sisters: Black Power! Black Power! (then, female chorus: “Black Power!”) Let me continue on. (Go ahead!) Let me continue on, ‘cause I ain’t afraid! I ain’t afraid. (“We are the lights(?)!”)

This reminds me of a slave ship. This reminds how we were packed and stacked and brought to the hells of America. In chains. Imagine yourself right now as if you were in a slave ship, at the bottom of a slave ship crossing the Atlantic. Huh? On a voyage that took many months, but you would not be seat be sitting comfortably in your seat. Because you would have to, in all due respect, you would have to ur you would have to be next to one that was urinating on himself. You would have to be next to one that is defecating on himself. We were locked and bound in the hulls of slave ship not for one year, not for six years, but for over 400 years. What IS all of this fuss about? And get dem damn lights on. There’s gonna be a problem on this campus tonight.

/17:34

See, I try to come here... ah, I’ll save that.

This is good, this is going out all over the city. All of the media can show what a racist town Pittsburgh really is! (long applause) Pittsburgh Pittsburgh is racist as hell! And the racism at Carnegie Mellon University drips to the core of this university. With all of this stolen money up in here. Money that you got, rooted in the exploitation of black people. And financin’ wars abroad.

/18:29

[audience noises] Man, somebody better get these lights on. Hey! (?)! You get these lights on? Turn the goddamn lights on! (crosstalk) Literal exploitation!

/18:39

[Shabazz] Hold tight! Hold tight! You’re not making me no less determined. Talkin’ about racism is over. Racism doesn’t exist. Y’all stick tight. We gotta prove a point tonight. (“Yes sir! That’s right sir!” “Maintain!”) (Shabazz? aside: “Make it happen. Right now.”) Black Power! (BP!) Let’s continue on. Y’all can see me? (Yes sir!) Right, let’s continue on.

/19:26

It’s the Black Panther Party. We ain’t scared. That’s all. So let me say this now: (mike noises) Now I might have to change again. My subject was supposed to be the role and responsibility of the black college student. So now it has to be the role, responsibility role and responsibility of the black college student, in the reality of white racism. (applause)

/19:56

They come here tonight the nerve of them! “Stick to the subject!” (audience chatter)

/20:04

[male narrator] Can you tell me what’s happening? Someone cut a breaker or something? Nobody wants to tell me what’s happening.

[Shabazz, far from microphone] The arrogance of these people! How in the hell could I talk about black history without talking about the white man’s negativity.(in background) How could I speak about black history without talking about white racism?

[close to mike, voices, crosstalk] Comin’ out. [Male narrator] Did someone cut a breaker or something? [Black] Go back inside, go back inside.

[Shabazz] Oh, ever since we have come into contact with the white man. These are facts, now. Whenever we have come into contact with the European, be it 6000 years ago in Khemet with the Hyksos invasion, or whether it was with the Greeks or the Greeks and Alexander the Not-So-Great, huh?

/21:00

Or whether it was all John Hawkins, Christopher Columbus, our contact in black history we have been consistently dogged by whitefolks. Is that right? (TR. “Let the church say amen.” “Amen!”) Let the church say amen again. (Amen!) Let the church say amen again. (Amen!) Now let’s clear this up first. Since they say I’m a racist, a hater, and a anti-Semite, let me try to offer you a few points on who I really am. Since my character has been defamed. That they didn’t tell you that I’m also a practicin’ attorney at law. They didn’t tell you that I’ve fought some important Constitutional victories over ol’ Rudy Giuliani in New York that allowed the Million Youth March to succeed. (Applause.) They didn’t want us to march in the streets of New York, we had to take them to FEDERAL court. Federal court of appeals. Year after year. They didn’t tell you that the National Bar Association, the largest group of black lawyers anywhere in the country, voted me young lawyer of the year. (applause) Now?

/22:20

They didn’t tell you that I’m the spokesman also and the founder of Black Lawyers for Justice. (Come on.) They didn’t tell you they tell you negative things about the New Black Panther Party. But they didn’t tell you how we feed the homeless. They didn’t tell you how we go to the corner and take free food supplies, free uh, school supplies and give it to young kids so they’ll have books and pencils, and notebooks. (“Think about this. Think about it.”) They didn’t tell you all over the country (“Uh oh. Lights comin’ back on.” White: “They have to warm up.”) They didn’t tell you that, did they? (No sir!) They didn’t tell you that the honorable Louis Farrakhan has axed me to be a co-convener huh? one who helps to convene the march WITH him! and he axed me to be a co-convener of the Million Man March ten-year anniversary. (Come on!) They didn’t tell you that! (“No sir.” Applause.)

/23:32

So tonight... (Shuffling. Shabazz aside: “Boy, this devil is tricky.” “Yes sir, that’s right sir.”) This just proves my point! It don’t stop the truth, it proves my point! So now I’m getting ready to go to work on you now. Class? I got the syllabus out for you tonight., and it’s not a silly syllabus full of the lies, and the books that they give you on the campus, trying to miseducate our people. But I got a hell of a syllabus for you tonight, buddy. We want to look over tonight. I have “The Destruction of Black Civilization,” by Chancellor Williams. I have tonight “The African Origin of Civilization,” by Cheikh Anta Diop. I have tonight some of them are outside, with Hillel “The American Dictionary of Certified Uncle Toms.” You know some of those Toms on campus, like I have tonight, a must for all of us tonight, “Introduction to Black Studies,” by Dr. Maulana Karenga. I have tonight “Message to the Black Man,” by the honorable Elijah Mohammed. I have tonight the Odu Ifa, ethical teachings and texts. I have tonight “The Black Messiah,” by Albert Cleage. I have tonight “The Black Man of the Nile and His Family,” by Yosef Ben-Jochannan. I have tonight “100 Years of Lynchings.” I have tonight “Breaking the Chains of Psychological Slavery.” But I got more than that. Because I was here to speak on the subject again, to my people of the role and responsibility of the black college student, but you opened the door! White Jews remember, they all white. Don’t get it twisted. (That’s right. They are, ain’t they?) So you opened the door, white folks, and you attacked and slandered my character! And I was taught as an attorney at law when you open the door and attack my character, you put your own character in the issue. (“That’s right!”)

/26:07

So I have not just come to deal with black people and black subjects, now I gotta deal witchoo as well, and I’m gonna drop it like it’s hot. Drop it like it’s hot! (Applause.) Oh, I’m gonna drop it on you tonight, buddy. Huh? (Come on!) ‘Cause I’m a warrior. So I have for you, buddy, “The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews.” From the Nation of Islam Historical Research Department, which deals in documents NOT from black scholars, but Jewish scholars, detailing the Jews’ involvement in slavery and the African holocaust. “The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews.” I have, by Dr. Tony Martin, which quotes Jewish scholars, “The Jewish Onslaught.” (Female, loud: That’s right!) (Quiet crosstalk near recorder.) I have tonight, by a white man, Michael Bradley take notes class? I have tonight “The Iceman Inheritance,”

/27:30

[near recorder] This is the person responsible for the lights, right here. ... This is the devil right here, that did it... playin’ with his computer. ...He didn’t do anything... Come around, and make sure he doesn’t do any mischief.

[white male voice] It was... inadvertent.

Shabazz: Let him do what he has to do whoa! Let him do what he has to do, and and follow him, make sure he don’t turn OFF the lights! [black: Keep a eye on him.] [female: ...CMU police arrest him!]

/27:48

[Shabazz] Now: Black Power! Black Power! Black Power! Again, I have tonight, by Michael Bradley, “The Iceman Inheritance: Prehistoric Sources of Western Man’s Racism, Sexism, and Aggression.” Mm? You wanna know why white folks act the way they act? Let’s go to the scholarship in the books. I have tonight again, by Michael Bradley, a white man, “The Chosen People From the Caucasus.” I have tonight also... if you really mess with me “The International Jew,” by Henry Ford. (“That’s right!”) Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motors. I have also: “Secrets of the Temple: How the Federal Reserve Runs the Country.” I have also: The Bible. And the Holy Bible, which is a black history book from one cover to another. (“That’s right!”) But it also details the account of the struggle between Jesus and the Jews. (Think about that.) And I have to be clear, when we talking about Jesus tonight we’re not talking about the false image that was given to us of a blond-haired, (That’s right!) blue-eyed, pale-skinned, buttermilk-complexion Christ! A white Christ!

/29:21

Not this guy. (No sir.) Because this is not Jesus, but I’m talkin’ about the one that Revelations says had hair like a lamb’s wool! (unintelligible; loud applause) Hair like lambs’ wool; I’m talkin’ about a Black Messiah! Mm? But we also gotta take a look at the account of Jesus and the Jews and ask ourself the question, “Well, if the quote-unquote Jews I must say quote-unquote Jews “quote-unquote” means “so-called,” because a real Jew would not act this way (No sir! TR!) You can say you’re one thing, but then you look up to the standards of the torah. All you rabbis, rabbinical scholars, I’m waiting for you. Now! So... you opened the wrong door. The Anti-Defamation League, let’s start with them. I have “The Ugly Truth about the ADL,” also, and we have to understand that the ADL, which is led by the old Abraham Foxman, and some of his representatives are in here tonight and they go around and they take quotes from my speeches and take them totally out of context. (loud cheers) They are master manipulators. And they are master deceivers. They take you out of context and mischaracterize you. And they try to make it seem like I’m an evil man, and I’m not an evil man. They try to make it seem like I’m a racist and I’m not a racist, I cannot BE a racist. All I am, all we are is victims of racism.

/31:22

What I say tonight is in defense of a victimized people. What I say tonight is in defense of a people who have been under a holocaust. Now look. The Anti-Defamation League how many are familiar? Put your hand up. The Anti-Defamation League was founded by gangsters. (“That’s right!”) The Anti-Defamation League was funded and founded by associates of Meyer Lansky. Meyer Lansky was who? A Jewish a so-called Jewish gangster, that ran bootleg liquor bootleg whisky and illegal drugs, and brought illegal drugs and whisky into America. (“That’s what he did.”) And then when Lansky passed in 1983, his cohorts (his voice cracks) began financing the parent organization of ADL, B’nai Brith. So this group of gangsters Abraham Foxman is a gangster. He spends his time tracking Louis Farrakhan. Spends his time saying Louis Farrakhan is a hater and a racist if he’s so bad, how can he draw millions of black men under his force? Huh? What gives, here? (“Right, right?”) If Farrakhan is so bad, why do black people love him so much? Why do we see it so differently? White people, you gotta look at yourself, and study yourself, why’re you actin’ the way you actin’? I’ma tell you. (Tell it brother, come on.) Anti-Defamation League, founded by gangsters. Funded by gangsters. Set up to bring illegal uh... alcohol, and dope, and drugs into America. (“That’s right!”) Dispute with me and my Bible.

So Mr. Foxman, ADL, Hillel, anytime you wanna clear this out for a debate, well, we can debate tonight. You come on down here and bring watchoo got to the table, and I’ll bring what I got to the table, (Female: “Yes Come on.”) and we’ll get the debate on.

/33:39

Look. Let’s go over this. The (sing-song) “Declaration of Unity.” (bitter) The Declaration of Unity! By Rachel Savinsky... Savinklestinn. Let’s listen to it and see if it makes sense to us. This is supposed to be the demonstration that took place outside, with them and the other blacks, I don’t know how many were there, I saw a couple on the news. (Audience member: “Not a lot.”) It says “We will be standing together across all boundaries of faith, color, nationality, and sexual orientation, to say loudly and proudly that we all support and have respect for one another.” That must have just happened today. (applause, crosschatter) Cause from what I heard, it ain’t no respect for our people on this campus. (“That’s right!”) That the racism is all interwoven in the walls of Carnegie Mellon University. Huh? All in Pittsburgh, in the colleges of Pittsburgh, racism overt racism, covert racism. (applause) They want you to learn, but only learn what they want you to learn! Study, but only study what they want you to study! Go somewhere, but only go where they want you to go!

/35:08

Let’s continue on. This is a joke! It says that we will not submit to the level of prejudice, intolerance, or hateful speech. Well, I’m not intolerant! I’m calling you out! I’m tolerant if you got a debate, or another point to debate, you come on out and give your point. “The Jewish and African-American student communities, Democrats and Republicans, cultural... and faith-based organizations will be standing together as representatives of the human race. To prove that divisive words cannot tear us apart.” (“Aww.” “Gee.”) Now I have to be clear. How can I come to teach you hate, how can I come to tear you apart, if all that they have done to us thus far you don’t hate them, and we have already been torn apart I cannot come and do that which was already been done. (Loud applause.)

/36:15

My sisters, my brothers, let us reason together, from a member of your family. Racism existed before I got here. (loud applause) Racism is a reality in American life and all over the planet. And then you try to come in here and act to tell me that I’m the cause of racism? You got a hell of a nerve, buddy. You got a hell of a nerve.

“They will only further commit us to bettering our relationships with one another, and to understanding our unique experiences. Across all boundaries, we will prove that we are devoted to the common values of respect, understanding and unity by signing a pledge that calls for such support, respect, support, empathy, openness and true open-mindedness.” Yeah, please! (Raucous laughter. Applause.) Please. You think you’re dealing with a child here. You think because you have young

[male narrator] Shabazz threw the paper to the floor.

students that are eighteen and nineteen, twenty, and they don’t know any better that they will fall for this. There has been no peaceful and harmonious relationship between us and the whites on this campus, in this city, on America. (“That’s right!”) Only, my friends, a relationship that is based on their superiority and our subjugation. Huh? Oh, they’ll have lunch with you, oh, they may if you choose, brother, hope you don’t, Susie will go out on a date with you, (laughter) huh? Let me be clear ‘fore I go any further that I’m for the black man on this campus standing with his black woman. (Loud applause.) I don’t believe that the black woman like some of these rap songs are sayin’, is an itch with the B in front of it, I don’t believe she’s a whore, I know she’s the queen of the planet! I know that she’s the mother of civilization! I know that she is the goddess of the universe! So don’t let me see you out here with Rachel, Susie or Karen or Kathy. Our black women NEED you, black man. Our black women NEED you, god! But they will try to act because you have date, or have a lunch, or they give you a few little trinkets and tokens, that you s’posed to be happy. (Uh-huh!) Sometimes they are so arrogant and racist they don’t even see it themselves! They will get along with us as long as they on the top and we on the bottom. As long as they in control and we are under their control, everything’s all right! But as soon as we start risin’ up, aah, they come out and turn the lights out, and go crazy! (Applause.)

/39:27

Huh? Just stick with me for a minute, I’m coming to the question and answers, I’m coming! (“That’s right!”) But I gotta drop this. The reason why they so upset, my dear family, and to the members of Hillel, are you here? Hillel? I’ll get back to Zionism in a moment. I got Zionism all over my list. To the members of the Arab Student Association, you got an ally here. I come with the FACTS. (Applause.) I don’t come with the slander, I don’t even have to call your names, I just come with the facts. So don’t come out here and say I called you a cracker I didn’t call you a cracker. I didn’t do it. Don’t say I called you a beast, I called you a devil, I did none of that! I just come with the facts! The facts is enuff tonight!

/40:25

Now. I just want to be clear. The guilty never want to be exposed. (Audience: “That’s the problem!”) The guilty never want any one of us to speak and to tell our people the truth lest we expose their hands in our condition. (TTP) Let’s take a look at the curriculum, hm? ‘Cause I gotta talk about the truth, and I gotta talk about white lies. Hm? Look. You come on this campus, and we been taught all our life, that black history began in slavery. Is that right? You will open up a textbook and we talk about black history and the first sign, the first scene, you see is our people bound and shackled in slavery. And the white writers and the liars of history would have us to believe that we were runnin’ around in Africa naked with a bone in our nose unable to speak, until we were found and civilized by the white man. And therefore we should be happy to be here. (“Right. Right.”) Black Power? (Black Power!) This is what they teach us in the college curriculum. This is what they teach us in high school curriculum. but I got news for you today that black people’s history did not begin in slavery. (No sir!) We are here to say clearly, and we got proof, that black people are the original people of the planet Earth.

/42:03

That you are, black man and black woman, the original man and the original woman on the face of the planet Earth there is no question about it. Huh? We were just watchin’ TV tonight and they went back and said they made a mistake. That they had the first Homo sapiens, was from Ethiopia, come from the word ethiops, meaning from the land of the black and the burnt-skinned people. That they found the oldest human Homo sapien, and Ethiopia, they thought he was a hundred and sixty thousand years old, but they say they made a 35,000-year-old mistake. Two hundred thousand years old! The Homo sapien, the progenitor of the modern human. Then they went back in Africa I said Africa Don’t care what they say about Africa, let me tell you about Africa that they came and they said that they found the oldest fossils of the human ancestors and years ago, uh, L.S.B. Leakey and others gave her a date, they called her “Lucy”, the skeletal remains, and gave her a birthdate of two million years old. Then they went back and found another ancestor, uh, of THAT, uh, progenitor, and found an ancestor THREE million years old! FOUR million years old! They cannot find the origin of the black man and the black woman. (“That’s right!”) You know why? It’s because we are without origin. And we are without father and without mother. We are the original people on the planet we are the responsible for the existence of the white race! (Applause.)

/43:49

The Bible says to honor your mother and your father (“That’s right!”) if your days are to be long upon the land thy Lord thy God has given you. You are the mothers and the fathers of the brown man. The yellow man. And the white man and the white woman. And no matter how you look at these people you call niggers, no matter how you look down on black people, remember you’re lookin’ atchoor mother and lookin’ atchoor your father. (applause) Huh? They should bow down when they see you in the hallways bow down and kiss the feet of the black woman. (“That’s right!”) And say if it were not for you, black woman, I wouldn’t have even a biological chemical existence. Huh? (“That’s right!”) Black Power! Black Power! Ah, but you gonna find will you find this in the books of Carnegie Mellon? I can’t hear you. Will you find that in the books? (No!) Will you find that in the high schools of Pittsburgh? (No!) Will you find that in white American curriculum? (No sir!) But you are the original people but they don’t want you to know it; according to them you’re nothing but a nigger! Black Power! Black Power!

/45:03

I’m still on the topic: black history. But I gotta deal with the lies against black history. So we are again the original people on the planet Earth. Our genes are dominant, white genes are recessive. A black man and a black woman can produce brown. You can produce red, queen! You can produce yellow! You can produce white and something that’s whiter than white, a hundred and eighty degrees opposite in either direction! (applause) But if Bob and Jill if Bob and Jill get together, they can do it all day, all night they can produce nothing but a little white baby. It’s because Mendel, the German scientist I’m talkin’ facts here now Mendel the German scientist teaches us that DARK genes are dominant and light genes are recessive. Black Power! (BP) Let’s talk civilization now. Dispute me if I’m wrong. If I’m wrong I’ll sit down. Black Let’s talk about civilization. You say okay, you may be the original people but the Greeks started civilization. Ohh... And then they come and give you Charlton Heston on TV as Moses. (“That’s right!”) Is that right? A blond-haired, white-skinned Moses. They give you Elizabeth Taylor as the anc ancient Egyptians. Huh? But we know and found and have uncovered through the brilliant scholarship of Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan (Come on!) and Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop and we have the facts that the original uh... Egyptians were black. (“That’s right!”) And the original name of Egypt is called Khemet. (Khemet!) Is called what? (Khemet!) I can’t hear you, talk louder. (Khemet!) Is called what? (Khemet!) Is called what. (Khemet!) [unintelligible] It’s all right if your white classmates in here remember, this is for the organizers as well. I’m doing the talking. Whatever I have to say tonight is my responsibility. I’m doing the talking. When you all go back to class, you say “I was just in there, he was doin’ the talking!” (Laughter.) Blame it on me! Blame it all on me.

/47:22

“Black Man of the Nile.” Yosef Ben-Jochannan. “Origin of African Civilization.” They teach us that the original Egyptians, the original Khemites, were black, and that Menes, the founder of the first dynasty of Khemet, was a was a broad-nosed thick-lipped black man! You can see the statues and the replicas right in these books! Huh? The builders of the pyramids, Khufu and Khafre, called by the Greeks Chephren and Cheops, the builders of the great pyramids were built by your mothers and your fathers. You built the pyramids, and inside the pyramids are the first forms of writing called the hieroglyphics by the Greeks but by us the “medu neter” we founded writing on the planet. (“That’s right!”) Huh? The pyramids today, the Great Pyramids, sitting in the Giza plateau, what they call the Great Wonders of the World, built by your foremothers and your forefathers. (“That’s right!”) Huh? (Yes sir! Thank you!) Black Power! (BP)

/48:34

The first modern marvels of architecture, science, and engineering and they still don’t know how the Pyramids were built today. While the Greek ruins are fallen down and Greece fallen in the rubble, the Pyramids are standing strong. Built by Africans! Built by black people! Great kings and queens that talk about [Sioscus?], I’m talkin’ about Queen [Tyree?], I’m talkin’ about Queen Hatshepsut, huh? I’m talkin’ about great kings and kings from Khemet, Thutmoses the Third, who conquered the then-known world; Khemet, Egypt, Ethiopia, are original black civilizations long before the Greeks, long before the Greeks were a gleam in their mothers’ eye. Read Herodotus! Matter of fact, Herodotus is all quoted all through this book! “Origin African” “Origin of African Civilization.” And Herodotus continuously talks about the woolly-haired Ethiopians and the woolly-haired black people from Khemet. We are the original people of the planet! Look! to the students of the Torah and those from Hillel. You try to teach us that civilization started with Adam and Eve. That Adam and Eve were the first man, and Adam and Eve are 6000 years old. Well, I ask you if the first man and the first woman are 6000 years old, then how could we have been building cities in Khemet and in Africa back in 10,000 B.C., 12,000 B.C.? (applause)

/50:18

How could we find fossils and the remains of Man millions of years old, hundreds of thousands of years old, but we’ve been given a baby teaching that Adam and Eve were the first man. Huh? But then in the very Bible, in the very Torah, in the opening of the Torah, it says that Adam and Eve had two children, Adam and Eve had Cain and Abel, is that right? And it says that Cain killed Abel. So that would leave Adam, Eve, and Cain on the Earth. Is that right? Ah, once Cain killed Abel. And then the Bible turns right around and says Cain went into the land of Nod and took a wife. Now if it was Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel on the planet, Cain killed Abel, where did Cain’s wife come from? And have you studied what J.A. Rogers teaches about the pre-Adamites, huh? Those who existed before Adam! and those who were makin’ in our image and our likeness a made man (“That’s right!”) huh? A MADE man on the planet, you with me? ‘Cause according to them I’m supposed to be a wild-eyed hate-sp uh, sputtering lunatic. But I got to come and teach facts. And I got to come and teach history. The earliest forms of writing, the earliest forms of architecture, the earliest forms of music, law, medicine, as our sister Asele said, that the original founder of medicine was a black man named Amenhotep or Imhotep, while they teach you to go to medical school and take the Hippocratic Oath. There’s been a plan to lie, and to deceive us, and to make us feel like they are SUPREME! and that we are inferior. And they know tonight that the hopes is over. Black Power! (BP)

/52:17

Look. Look. You say that the Ten Commandments came from Moses. The Ten Commandments came from Moses! Well, Moses was a black man. Huh? The Scripture says that Moses was an Egyptian. We’ll get back to that, but you say that ten commandments came from Moses. But have you studied the laws of Ma’at, have you studied the laws of Ma’at? Have you studied Akhenaten and the 42 Negative Confessions? Have you studied what the writers of the Bible lifted and STOLE from ancient Africa? Well, you can look at the Ten Commandments and match it up to what Akhenaten revealed through the codes of Ma’at and the 42 Negative Confessions long before Moses and the Ten Commandments and see how they lifted that right out of the ancient temples, and put it in the Bible! Black Power! (BP) What does that mean? That means you are the origin of morality. You are the origin of ethics. You are the origin of religion and spiritual teaching. Most of the teachings that come up out of the Bible have a root in ancient Africa. In all due respect I have love, again, for the Black Messiah, the Black Jesus of the Scripture, but if you’re gonna talk about a virgin birth, if you’re gonna talk about a virgin birth did you know that two thousand years... ah, thousands of years, much more than two thousand, thousands of years before the birth, the virgin birth, of Mary and Jesus, we had Ausar and Auset, Isis and Osiris? (applause) Huh? Did you know about the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit or do you know and understand how a virgin named Auset gave birth to a virgin child named Horus. Hm? The origin-- the root of the virgin birth is in Africa, and it is in the it is in the Egyptian so-called Mystery System, the story of Ausar and Auset. Islam! Origins: in Africa. Christianity! Origins: in Africa. Judaism! Origins: in Africa. Humanity! Human beings. All of their origin in Africa! This is Black History Month! You have no need to ever again, young black man and black woman, limit yourself to being a Crip, limit yourself to being a Blood, limit yourself to being a thug, no way you should walk around on this campus with your head down knowing that YOU ARE the mother and father of it all. Now.

/55:14

Word. Wow. Let’s take a look at it since they say I’m a racist. Huh? Let us take a look at it. Since they say I am an anti-Semite Let’s move the rostrum over, sir. (thumping noise)

[male narrator] Photos of lynchings are behind Shabazz.

[Shabazz] Brothers and sisters, does this sound like hate teaching to you? (No sir!) Does this sound like racism to you? (No sir!) Does this sound like anti-Semitism to you? (No sir!) I have a secret for you. They say I’m an anti-Semite. But really they’re anti-KHEMITES. Huh? (Laughter, applause.) They say I’m an anti-Semite but they’re anti-KHEMITES. They’re anti-black. And they can’t stand to see black people comin’ into power.

/56:14

Let’s take a look at it and go a little further. ‘Cause I’m back on you now, buddy. Gave you a black history... base... in ancient history so you know where you come from, where you got your religion from. Now I’m back on you now, buddy.

/56:38

In the Bible. ‘Fore we move on to the slavery period. The Jews say they have been our friends. And Rachel says she’s been our friend, right? And that we’ve had such peaceful and good relations up to this point, and Malik Shabazz is comin’ to disturb all that. How many of you have heard of the Hamitic Myth? How many of you have heard that they the teaching that black people are the cursed seed of Haman? Hm? The Hamitic myth, or the teaching that black people are the cursed seed of Haman and Cain, was used as a pretext and a justification for the Black holocaust or the Maafa. By teaching that we were Biblically and divinely doomed to be cursed, and hewers of wood and drawers of water was the justification for them putting us into slavery. (Uh-huh!) But you thought that that came from the Christian so-called quote-unquote ‘cause a real Christian wouldn’t be dealin’ in slavery. It’s talkin’ about the so-called Jews and the so-called Christians. Look! Let’s go to the Talmud, which is one of the Jewish quote-unquote holy books. Let’s go to the Talmud and see what the Talmud says about black people. And let’s see how the Jewish rabbis and st and sages set the stage for the African holocaust by putting forth the doctrine and the writing that black people are cursed. You with me? Hm?

/58:26

I read and I quote from Dr. Harold Brackman, Harold Brackman is a Jewish scholar, Harold Brackman, gotta use your own, who quotes the Talmud. How many familiar with the Talmud? Familiar with the Talmud, buddy? Okay. Talkin’ about the Hamitic hypothesis, It says quote, “Ham is told by his outraged father that because you have abused me in the darkness of the night that your children shall be born black and ugly. And because you have twisted your head to cause me embarrassment, they shall have kinky hair and red eyes. Because your lips jested at my exposure they shall swell, and because you neglected my nakedness their shall go naked with their shamefully elongated male members exposed for all to see.” This is written in the Talmud. This is written and studied by quote-unquote Jewish rabbis and scholars that have taught for centuries and centuries since the fourth century A.D. that black people are cursed. And they gave this to the Judeo-Christian world as a justification for our enslavement yet they still teach today as part of their so-called spiritual law that black people are cursed.

/1:00:00

Now, I may have to agree with only one part of this. It may be elongated, but it ain’t shameful. (Laughter, applause, “Black Power!”) Now to be honest... they say we shamefully elongated, but ain’t too many black men who think shame. Pardon the humor, but this is an academic setting. (“Come on brother, come on brother.”) This is an academic setting. Let’s take it a little further.

Let’s take it a little further. Zionism! (unintelligible noise from audience member) First of all, Palestine is in northeast Africa. And you would expect us between the dispute between the Jews and the Palestinians to just automatically take the side of the Palestinians. But we say first of all to BOTH of them, that the land question really hasn’t been raised. That the real land question hasn’t been raised, that the origin of the land question between the Jews and the Palestinians hasn’t been raised really, the land belongs to black people! (“yeah! That’s right!”) And Dr. Chancellor Williams teaches us in “The Destruction of Black Civilization” how Palestine, which is in northeast Africa, separated by a man-made waterway called the Suez Canal, is in Africa. How the hell am I anti-Semitic the original Semites were black people from northeast Africa. Huh? (applause) The original Semites who speak the Arabic, the Amharic, or the Gis languages are from northeast Africa. But the people you see in Israel today are not the true original Jews, they are from Europe! (“That’s right!” Applause.) They are the Ashkenazis or facts. Quote me, I’m quoting facts. These are the Asheh-kenazim, from Europe, Khayzars, from Central Europe, the Caucus Mountains, when they first got the knowledge from the Caucus mountains, when you were building the pyramids, building civilizations, they were in the Caucasus mountains crawling on their all-fours in the caves and hills of Europe. Huh? (applause) They teach you that they gave YOU civilization, and you gave THEM civilization. When you were building palaces and pyramids, they were eatin’ their meat raw. They had no mortuary science. They would just take an animal, jump on an animal, knock him to the ground, and jump on him and bite him in the ear. In the Caucus mountains Caucasian comes for the root word Caucus, Caucus from the Cauc Caucus Mountains. It has a few other meanings I’ll leave out right now.

/1:03:12

(“Go ahead.”) I’ll stick to the point here. What I’m sayin’ is you are the true Semites. And those, Ariel Sharon and others in Israel, and the Zionists, are from Europe. The Zionists are from Switzerland. The Zionists never were in Palestine as they are today; they were always from Europe. You can’t tell the difference between a white Jew and a white Gentile on this campus! (“That’s right!”) Let’s be honest: Whitefolks are whitefolks! Can you tell the difference? (No!) Do you know on face value who is Jewish and who’s not? (No sir!) They are not the Semitic people, the Semitic people look like me, I’m not black black! Semite means half, that means somebody has interfered with my seed, interfered with your seed you’re not black black! Who’s the blackest man in here? Huh? (Audience chatter) Show up somebody that’s real black in here. That’s a beautiful black sister, man, a black queen, in the white T-shirt. A black queen. (Extended applause, chatter, cheers.)

Theodore Herzl. The founder of modern Zionism. Has a lot of blood on his hands. It’s not subjective teaching, these are objective facts. Theodore Herzl, the modern founder of Zionism, Menachem Begin, one of the first founders of the state of Israel. Now look how they do us. They say you guys are violents. (“Right, right.”) Now I want to be clear that the New Black Panther Party is not violence. That we believe in self-defense! And these men here are like ushers. They all here they just ushers. And you on your way up here, to try and stop me from telling the truth. They gonna usher you back to your seat head first. (Applause, “Black Power!”) Why’m I talking like this? Why’m I talking like this? Man, I got e-mails saying that we gonna disrupt this, and they did, they tried. I got e-mails saying that they were going to come in, pull the fire alarms, that they were going to come in and throw things at me, that they were going to come here and if what they did outside didn’t work, they were gonna come in to the inside and stop it. What am I supposed to do? Run and hide, like a punk? Hm? (No sir!) I’m supposed to be scared? (No!) I ain’t never scared! I ain’t never scared! (crowd noise, applause) Uh? I like you! (singing) I’m a warrior. (Warrior!) I’m a warrior. I don’t care what they say about me as long as I can reach BLACK people. (“That’s right!”) Zionism is racism. Zionism oppresses the Palestinians. Zionism oppresses the Palestinians and the real Semitic people of that land in favor of a white Zionist occupier.

/1:06:55

They went in in 1948. They called us violent but Menachem Begin was a terrorist. Menachem Begin blew up hotels. Menachem Begin’s just killed people in order to establish the state of Israel. But it’s all right for them! If they can use guns and bombs for their freedom but they tell us to be non-violents. (“That’s right!”) What a hypocrite! So they moved in in 1948 in Palestine, killin’ everything in sight. And mowed down and moved out over two million Palestinians out of Palestine to create what they called the state of Israel. Did you know that? Did you know that two million Palestinians were left vagabonds, and left homeless in the land by the Zionists? (“Think about it.”) Who’s the real racists? Is it me or is it the Zionists? Who? (Zionists!) Who? (Zionists!) Who went in crushin’ over two million Palestinians outta that land? Then they kept startin’ wars with their Arab neighbors to grab more and more land; that’s part of what Zionism is, to take as much land as they can. (That’s what it is.) If they could get away with it they’d swallow up Gaza. If they could get away with it they’d swallow up uh... the West Bank, they’d swallow up Jordan. They’d swallow up the Golan Heights. If they could get away with it. And if it wasn’t for the grace and the power of Allah and some bold black I mean well, they are family. (Laughter.) Some bold Palestinian men and Palestinian women. (Loud cheers, applause.)

/1:08:42

How can you be a Jew and say you a Zionist? How can you be a Jew and participate in the taking of another people’s land? And right and ripping them off of their land and killing them on their land. They just BULLDOZE the houses! Drove them off the land and today they say they don’t even have the right to return. (“Think about these things.”) But I’M the racist? I’m the anti-Semite? Oh, by the way the Palestinians are a Semitic people. Just in case we may have forgot through all the dialogue, the Palestinians are a Semitic people. But they mowed them down and outta that land and today they have them corralled. In the West Bank, in the Gaza Strip, on little bitty splotches and pieces of land. Huh? Look at what they do to the Palestinians, flyin’ helicopters, shootin’ missiles into they houses. huh? They don’t like em they just bulldoze your house. Take a bulldozer, bulldoze your houses. The blood of the Palestinians on the hands of the Zionists drips all the way down into the core of the planet Earth I got to stand with the Palestinians. (Loud cheers, applause.)

/1:10:02

The state of Israel was taken by criminal means. The state of Israel was set up by illegal means, you cannot come to me and justify it under international law. It has no standing under international law It is an illegal state! It was set I don’t care what negotiations are goin’ on! It’s only a negotiation by force. It’s only a negotiation between the occupier and the occupied. And now the Palestinians are forced to try and broker a deal because they got guns to their head, bulldozers. Black Power? (BP!) Zionism is racism. That’s what I said; they ax me I said that. I say it again. Zionism is terrorism. (“That’s right!”) Menachem Begin was a terrorist! Ariel Sharon has the weapons of terror at his hands and he terrorizes the Palestinians when he get ready. I don’t BLAME Hamas. I don’t BLAME Hezbollah. I don’t BLAME Islamic Jihad, they were throwin’ rocks and after they got killed so much and saw their mothers and their babies bein’ killed they just said the hell with it, they gonna use by any means necessary to win their freedom and their liberation. I don’t blame the victim. Palestinians are the victim and they only responding to a white racist oppression in Palestine. This is not hatred! This is fact! And this is universally agreed on by the nations of the Earth! United Nations resolution 1982 stated that Zionism is racism. That ain’t Shabazz, that’s the United Nations. Huh? Zionism!

/11:57

No one else in the Middle East this is another aspect of it. No one else in the Middle East what they CALL the Middle East, I’ll get to that another time. Middle East, where’s the Middle West, where’s the Middle Middle, (“That’s right!”) this guy’s playin’ word games. Egypt is in the Middle East, you know, he’s a shifty guy. You gotta watch him! No one else in the Middle East is allowed I’m coming to you, you can shoot your best shot No one else in the Middle East is allowed to defend themselves Israel must main military superiority. Israel must have military superiority. Now maybe I’m maybe I’m embarrassed, maybe I’m just too much of a whatever they say I am. But if Israel can have nuclear weapons, if Israel can have missiles that can reach across the Gulf, across Europe, why can’t the Muslims have them? (Loud applause.) God! If you can have an Israeli bomb, why can’t you have an Islamic bomb? Huh? If you can have an Israeli bomb and an American bomb and a French bomb, why can’t you have an African bomb? Can’t you see it right before your eyes? Kim Il Sung can’t have nuclear weapons. Iran can’t even have a facility or a factory, can’t even have a little piece of uranium. No one can have what they call weapons of mass destruction but them! For them it’s nuclear weapons; for the darker peoples of the Earth it’s a weapon of mass destruction. Is that right? (“That’s right!”) Tell me if I’m lying. The white man can have nuclear weapons, America has ten thousand nuclear weapons ten thousand! But if they look like Iran, comin’ up on just a pencil with something inside of it, all the whole world’s on fire. This is racism! And they’re telling us that only white people are responsible enough to have nuclear weapons, but they the only ones that’s used them! (Right, right, TR.) Huh?

/1:14:19

Who dropped the first nuclear bomb? Who? (Come on, y’all.) Forgot about World War Two? Who dropped the first nuclear bomb? Huh? (Mixed response: “United States!” “Israel!” “Whitefolks!”) Iraq. Iraq. Iraq. I’m a freedom fighter. The passion comes from me comes from the love and love for my people and the pain and suffering that I endured their pain is my pain. The Muslim pain, the Palestinian pain, is my pain. Huh? Racism. We live in a world of racism, a world of a double standard. Look. They came here Look at this, look at these sick cartoons that they wrote on campus. They got me in one. Talking about... blowjobs, and Malik Shabazz... this is a is this a campus newspaper? (Yes it is! Yes it is!) This is on campus! But I can’t speak, right? But you got me in here, insulting the hell out of every black student here, the other one I got openly talks about niggers, is that right? (Yes! Yes it does!) Openly talk about niggers, right here in the campus uh... newspapers! And they dogged me hard, like I didn’t give you credit, you hit me hard. Put up with your deviant sick sexual psychopathic... (Loud applause.) You so righteous, right? They so righteous, but they come but they but Meyer Lansky and the boys run liquor and alcohol. Right? (Right, right.) And they’re purveyors of pornographic magazines and all this smut and slut you see around... you know who’s behind it? (“Expose the devil!”) You just didn’t fight fair so you had to get sick and sexual with me. (“That’s right!”) I’ll tell you where the origin of all sexual sicknesses come from. (Go ahead. Go ahead.) If you ask me, in the question and answer session. (Laughter.) Look. Look, man, the state of Israel is a terrorist state. The state of Israel is a terrorist state. (Cheers. Unintelligible from audience.) Say what? Say what? (“Freedom! Freedom today! Free the black man!”) You hear that? You hear that? And you hear this? Those who are listening, and those who are takin’ notes in the audience, you listenin’ to a cry of an oppressed people (“That’s right!”) whose voice has been muffled, whose very feelings have been muffled. And tonight is an exercise in us repairing ourselves.

Let’s go quickly to the slave trade and then I’ll open it up, I’ll I wanna I wanna (“Teach! Teach us!”) talk some question-and-answer. Y’all all right with me? (Yes sir!) Y’all mad with me? (Applause.) Am I a racist? (No sir!) Am I a hater? (No sir!) Am I an anti-Semite? (No sir!) United States slavery. Huh? Who is the real racist, man? Huh? Who is the real anti-Semite? (“The white man!”) They would LYNCH black people. This is the This is not just slavery, this is up until the 1940s, 1950s, a favorite habit of theirs is to take a black man and... and take a rope and wrap it around his neck and hang him from a tree. Our holocaust did not last six years (No sir!), our holocaust did not last 12 years, you talkin’ about a 400-year holocaust! For it is in the Bible that we would be in bondage for 400 years, I say to you again, we are the true chosen people of God. We are the only ones who have been in a land that is not our own for 400 years (“That’s right!”) stripped of our name our language our religion our culture and our god. Huh? Castrate the black man! Take the black man, cut his genitals off! Take the genitals, ram it in his mouth and light the black man on fire! And they sit around eating popcorn and laugh about it! Huh? Havin’ picnic, which really comes from the origin pick-a-nigger. Picnic comes from the origin pick a nigger! Pick a nigger to lynch and go an’ get some food and popcorn and laugh about it! No genuine human being could lynch another human being without just cause and sit around and laugh and smile and eat popcorn about it. Huh? No human being (“That’s right!”) Talk to me about a hundred you say you lost six million we lost over a hundred and fifty million in the Middle Passage and on both sides of the Atlantic! (Think about that.) One hundred and fifty million! (Applause.) Drowned in the Atlantic. Hundreds of years, drowned in the Atlantic, killed in Africa. Killed over here in America. You say you’re gonna go on and be a Rhodes Scholar. Old Cecil Rhodes went into what he called Rhodesia in southern Africa killing black people all over southern Africa. Millions of black people killed in Rhodesia. Millions of them killed in southern Africa, what’s called [Azilee]. Millons of them killed in the Congo at the hands of white racist white supremacist white colonialist white British French imperialist Who’s the real racist? (TR Think about it)

Huh? Talk to me about Tulsa, Oklahoma. Talk to me about Rosewood. Tulsa, Oklahoma. You say black people, they can’t — they can’t build nothin’. They can’t build no economic plan. Tulsa Oklahoma how many are familiar? (Black Wall Street.) This is not in your history books. Tulsa Tokla—Oklahoma we had Black Wall Street. (“That’s right!”) We had black businesses. We had black banks — at that time in the ‘20s it was worth over 30 million dollars! Put that in the context of modern dollars and add interest — we had a black economic empire, stores, grocery stores, banks, uh... credit unions, we were then that we had a black empire! We were victims of segregation but we were making it on our own, (“That’s right!”) but the white man of Oklahoma couldn’t stand it. He couldn’t stand to see us progressin’ so they went into Tulsa, Oklahoma, and they burned the whole town down. And any black men they could found, they strung black men up and hung ‘em all over Tulsa, Oklahoma. They burned our banks. They burned our farms, they burned our credit union, they burned everything down black man to hell. You tellin’ me I’m supposed to come here— (Come on brother, come on! Applause.) They destroyed Tulsa, Oklahoma, and sent a sign all over the nation that if you niggers build anything we’ll burn it to the ground. (“That’s right!”) Chicago riots, 1919. Blacks making progress in Chicago, whitefolks just rose up and started killing all blacks all over Chicago. (“That’s right!”) Right after World War I. Black men lynched, in uniform. Black men hung in uniform. Hm? Who’s the real racist?

/1:22:44

Look. Look. I got a defense for you, black man. (Go ahead. Teach.) Look at what you been through, man. Black woman, I gotta ask you, black queens, black goddesses, I gotta ask you just give the black man just a little while longer. I know you ready to give up. But I don’t want you to give up so far when you start going to each other. (Raucous laughter, applause.) Or Bob, or Steve, or Bill, hold on, black mothers! The black man to them has always been a threat. (“That’s right!”) The black man to them has always been a threat, and they get joy out of hanging the black man. They get joy out of either physically hanging you, or they get joy out of mentally and politically hanging you. Like they tryin’ to hang me — like they tried to hang Minister Farrakhan. They try to hang Khallid Muhammad. But we say greater is he that is in us than he who is in the world. (Applause, BP) The Nation of Islam is alive and well. And the Black Panther Party is alive and well. The Palestinian struggle is alive and well. The pan-African struggle is alive and well. They did not stop the truth! Truth crushed to the earth shall rise. Ohh, as much as we been through, we still got the spirit. God is with us, for we are the very people of God. Look at our clothes. They teach you lies. George Washington was the father of our country. Thomas Jefferson was the father of our country. Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492. Is that what they teach? (That’s what they teach.) Is that what they teach at Carnegie Mellon University? Oh, but I know a different Christopher Columbus. I know a different George Washington. I know a different Thomas Jefferson. I know a Christopher Columbus that came to the West Indies or the Caribbean and wiped out the Arouak Indians! (Applause.) I... know a Christopher Columbus that came and began the holocaust of the Indians they wiped out — I’m talking about whitefolks. Wiped out 90 percent of the Indians in America, lied to the Indians over and over again, broke treaties, killed and murdered 90 percent of the Indians — straight-up genocide. Who’s the racist? (They are!) And I gotta control my speech? I gotta stick to the topic?

/1:25:38

George Washington! What about the George Washington that raped black women? What about the George Washington that had as many slaves as are sitting in this room? George Washington was a hypocrite, claiming a country that’s free and just for all at the same time tradin’ black men and women like a keg of molaskus — a keg of molasses — a chicken or a keg of whisky. (“That’s right!”) Ol’ Thomas Jefferson, old wooden-teeth-wearin’, wig-wearin’ Thomas Jefferson, nothin’ but a slave-master, a slave-owner, an Indian-killer. Andrew Jackson! Indian killers, slave traders, slave owners! Ain’t no whitefolks in here named Washington! (TR Think about that.) Huh? Ain’t no white people in here named Washington! Ain’t no Washingtons in here, usin’ your black people— ‘cause the cherry tree ol’ no-good George was choppin’ down was the black woman. And that’s why you Rallou Washington. Tanniquah Washington. Huh? (Laughter, applause.) You never seen no Bob Washington! Jeremy Washington! Indian-killers and slave-owners, when are we gon’ get some truth? Huh? (“That’s right!”)

They killed Medgar Evers. Shot him down like a dog when all he was tryin’ to do was get the right to vote. They killed King! (“That’s right!”) Martin Luther King loved — tried the best he could, to love white people. And even went out and said that the white man was his brother. Then he forswear arms, and gave up arms, and he preached the unity of mankind and brotherhood uh... in a — in a certain kind of Christian spirit and they killed King. (“That’s right!”) The government spied on Martin Luther King and J. Edgar Hoover set King up for his death. J. Edgar k— J. Edgar Hoover declared that Dr. Martin Luther King was the most dangerous Negro in America, and the FBI, of the United States government counter-intelligence program stated that it was their objective to stop the rise of the Black Messiah. I’m not just talkin’ about Hoover, I’m talkin’ about the government’s stated objective to stop the rise of a Black Messiah. (“That’s right!”) Now who would keep a people in bondage for 400 years and try to stop a Messiah from coming to them? Who would miseducate a people — did you know, to be talkin’ about well, well, he didn’t score as well on the test? Sorry, you couldn’t get in, you didn’t do so well here on your SATs?— see, whites score higher than blacks. Did you know for hundreds of years we weren’t even allowed to read? (“That’s right!”)

/1:28:42

Did you know that slaves were not even allowed to read? Did you know discrimination in public schools, public colleges, private schools, private colleges — most of these schools we couldn’t even get into. They try to act like they doin’ you a favor by letting you onto campus when for hundreds of years, blacks were banned. Blacks were banned from becomin’ lawyers. Blacks were banned from becoming doctors. Blacks were banned from reading. Blacks were banned from reading the Bible. Hell, you just got the right to VOTE in ‘65, and in 2001 it was thrown into question. huh? You gotta understand what is happening to black people in the wide. I will come to speak to you in the way and in the manner that I have come tonight. So I say to you as I prepare to open up for this question and answer session, that the role and the responsibility of the black college student, one, is to know the truth. (Go ahead. That’s right.) You must know the truth, young student, young black student, here you must know the truth — you can’t duck the truth. Number two, your job is to take your talent and your skill, whatever you learn here at Carnegie Mellon University, and use that knowledge, that degree, that talent and your skill not to go off into white corporate America, but your job is to use your talent, your knowledge, and your skill to make an advancement for the liberation of the people. (Loud applause.) Huh?

/1:30:20

You didn’t get here on your own. Somebody suffered to get you here. (Yes sir!) Somebody was lynched and shot down to get you here. Somebody’s grandmama scrubbed some floors, uh, scrubbed some diapers to get you here. You didn’t get here on your own!

/1:30:40

I’m — I’m getting me a job, I have an internship at Microsoft. I have an internship at IBM. I’m with the law office of Kaplan and Scrutchskawaffski. You think you makin’ progress, huh? NO. All you’re doin’ is buildin’ up their world. That’s all you’re doin’ is building up their world! But I got news: Their world is already built! Where’s your world, huh? The role and responsibility of the black college student is to be knowledgeable. To be educated. To be dedicated to our resurrection and our rise. The role of the black college student on this campus is not just to party — not just to play — not just to place the Sony Playstation and watch the NFL playoffs... Probably why the Pittsburgh Steelers is cursed! (“That’s right!”) Probably payin’ you back! All this racism! (Crowd chatter.) I mean Pittsburgh is racist! Don’t even— White people won’t even give you directions in Pittsburgh. “Excuse me sir, can I— can I— can you tell me how to get around the corner?” (“That’s right!”) Oh, our people have suffered in Pittsburgh. The role and responsibility of the black college student is to advance the liberation struggle of our people. The role and responsibility of the black colleges is to make us a free, productive, moral, ethical, unified, and dignified people. We’re dependent on you, young scientists. We’re dependent on you, young lawyer, young doctor, we’re dependin’ on you to get us out of this condition. But you gotta know what I know tonight. You gotta go an’ study every book that I told you tonight — I’ll go and read it for you again in the answer session — you gotta know and understand these books, you gotta learn. You gotta remember your ancestors. You gotta remember, you gotta respect your elders, young people. Huh? We’ve lost a respect for our elders and those in the community and we’ve gone wild. Huh?

/1:33:00

But it’s a great day. And tonight, I say that this is a great night for the city of Pittsburgh, and this is a great night on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University. They tried all they could to stop us. They tried to hit the lights. They tried to think— you think we gonna run out? They tried to slander and lie on us, tried to slander and lie on you. I say no HARM should come to the students who put on this program, no harm. I say what? (No harm!) Say what? (No harm!) Say what? (No harm!) Don’t they have a right to present another point of view? (Yes!) Don’t the students have a right to prevent a diverse point of view? (“That’s right!”) All’a this multiculturalism. Let’s all get along and respect each other — what they really mean is, don’t deal with right— with white racism. Just accept it and... eat a little collard greens, play a little rap music, eat a little chop suey — this is what THEY eat. Try to make you minimize YOUR culture. Under the guise of multiculturalism. We’re not going for it today. I like you am headed to Washington, D.C., October 16. I like you today, even though I’m the Chairman of the New Black Panther Party, and I thank all of these — Minister Divine Allah, great young leader here in America, from New Jersey, our national youth minister. our national minister of justice, Imam Akbar Bilal, and I’m certain I speak for the FOI, the Fruit of Islam, and the MGT in the audience, Minister [Hassan?], we are headed to Washington, and we atoned in 1995, and now we are headed to Washington for justice. The honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan is the leader amongst leaders. (Applause.)

Now to make it plain. Don’t care what my position is in MY organization, he is the leader OF leaders. He’s the only man who can get the Black Nationalists to the table. Get the pastors to the table. Get the Hebrews to the table, get the women, the men to the table! (“That’s right!”) He’s the elder, the dean, of the hour. And the very bible says if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me. I can’t draw a million men to Washington! But there’s one on the scene that at the sound of his voice when he calls for black leaders and black men they stand up and stand to attention. (Go ahead.) And that is Farrakhan. Huh? (Applause. “Allahu akbar!” Callback: [“Takhir”?]) He’s the leader among leaders. He’s told me that he’s developing a liberation PLAN for our people. He has honored me and humbled me beyond words by asking me to be an advisor to him to help him develop that plan. (Go ahead. “That’s right!”) So Shabazz is standing with Farrakhan. The preachers and pastors standing with Farrakhan. There are black women, scholars and educators standing with Farrakhan. There are gang members, rappers, Crips and Bloods that are standing with Farrakhan. and the million man march ten-year anniversary. So you’ll be on him — I’m sure you’ll all be on him all the way up — the way up to October 16 cryin’ and jumpin’ up and down about Farrakhan’s a racist, Farrakhan’s an anti-Semite, and I guarantee you when you open your eyes on October 16, 2005, you’ll see a million black men, you will see a million black women, and you will see the Nation of Islam standing with the Black Panthers. Black Power! (Applause; no callback.) Standin’ with black women, standin’ with black women. Join the Million Man March. Join the local organizing team. Get on the Internet and hit the Internet for the Million Man March. Talk it up on the radio, come, come and help the local organizing committee or just get a bus, get a van, get a car head to Washington. Let ‘em know that they don’t have you gagged and bound, here in Pittsburgh. Let ‘em know that the napkin has come up off of your eyes and you’re no longer gonna be the enemy’s Negro here in Pittsburgh.

You have a great destiny, Pittsburgh. They tried to keep you down — for oh so long. I say this to the black woman as I leave, that sisters, you have suffered much, and many times in leadership we have overlooked the black woman, and the black woman many times has done a lot of the labor in these organizations, showin’ up on time. (Applause.) And I’m callin’ on you, black man, African king, I’m calling on you, god, to take a new stand and take a— take a new respect for the black woman. When you see your black woman, bow, when you see your black woman. (teach.) Whe you see her don’t call her a bitch, call her a queen, call her a goddess. (Applause.) ‘Cause she got the blood of Queen Nzinga and Queen Hatshepsut and Queen Yaa Asantewaa all in her— veins, and in her blood, this is a great woman who has suffered much. And as we move forward in this liberation struggle, there’s nowhere we can go without the black mama. And like Harriet Tubman who taught us, huh? And like Harriet Tubman who taught us, if you can’t lead you better follow the black woman who’s leading! (Applause.) Follow the black woman who’s leading. And like Queen Yaa Asantewaa who was fighting the British — and Queen Yaa Asantewaa who was fighting the British in Ghana — the men were scared! The Ghanaian men, the men of the Ghana empire, were scared to fight the British, but Queen Yaa Asantewaa and the sisters were not. So Yaa Asantewaa sat down with the black men, with the African men then, and they said all right, well if you won’t fight them, then we will! But when we come home from fighting them there will be no place for you in our bedrooms. A nation can rise no higher than its woman. Thank you for listening! Thank you for listening! (Applause.) Black Power! Black Power! Black Power! Black Power! Black Power! (More applause.)

My son was accepted to CMU mech. engineering program for spring 09. He loved the school, it was his first choice..
I spoke with him and showed him Shabazz transcript and he will not be attending CMU. Political correctness run amok. What a way to ruin a wonderful university.

Best of luck with your racist hate speech from the likes of Shabazz. We're from Philly and he jack boots most of the neighborhoods here. He's a thug and a criminal. Shame on CMU.

having nothing to say never stops this deranged spook.
One that blows its involvement with the intelligence services as shown at the beginning of this thread.
But it sure gives great Israeli head.
