Steelers Fans Against the War
by Etta Cetera Monday, Jan. 10, 2005 at 8:10 AM

For Immediate Release (please spread far and wide)

STEELERS FANS AGAINST THE WAR KICKS OFF JANUARY 15TH
AT HEINZ FIELD IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE TO GREAT HALL
(the entrances to Heinz Field have names engraved
above them..look for the one that says the Great Hall)

Press Conference at 2:30pm

Contact: Etta Cetera 412- 802-8575

Steelers Fans Against the War (SFAW) will be hosting a
press conference and rally in favor of the Steelers
stellar 15 and 1 season but against George Bushes’
unjust and unsportsmanlike conduct against Iraq. We
think it’s great to see today’s Iron Curtain keep the
Jets out of their endzone, but sheesh, sure is
embarrassing when they sack the Iron City Beer dudes.
Just as we don’t want to see the Steelers sack people
on the sidelines we certainly don’t want to see the
president rushing into war against the wrong enemy.
Osama Bin Laden is NOT the quarterback of Iraq. Iraq
and Al Quaeda are two different teams. We charge
George Bush not only with an illegal use of arms but
an illegal use of arms against the wrong team. We
would expect such tactics from a team like the
Cleveland Browns but not by someone who is supposed to
be the leader of the United States. We also charge the
U.S. government with unnecessary roughness on the
grounds that no weapons of mass destruction were ever
found. Iraq never had the ball and since the sanctions
they haven’t even had the pigs to make a pigskin. On
the other hand, George Bush has been lobbing long
bombs all over the Middle East ever since the second
invasion of Iraq. But he ain’t in Heinz field he’s in
left field in PNC Park hitting foul balls. If you
want to challenge these calls we will show you the
instant replays.

When the SFAW marched against the war on January 20th,
2002, we said “Make Touchdowns NOT War” and “YARDLINES
NOT FRONT LINES” and we will continue to raise our
voice in protest this Saturday. Even after the U.S.
Government claims to have already sacked Iraq’s
quarterback, Saddam Hussein, Bush continues the
Blitz. George Bush’s encroachment has cost the lives
of 100,000 Iraqi’s and the lives of 1,313 U.S.
soldiers. The number of people that have died because
of this war would fill up Heinz Stadium one and ½
times. Not to mention, the U.S. disabled list bares
10,000 names and the number is rising. .

We call TIME OUT to rethink this war. The United
States is off sides and out of bounds. The penalties
committed by the U.S. government are costing more than
a few yards, they are costing lives. We are running
out of TIME OUTS.

SFAW will stand with our WAR IS TERRIBLE towels in
solidarity with people across the country that are
demanding no more war games.
UP WITH THE SUPERBOWL! DOWN WITH THE DEATH TOLL!
GO STEELERS.

If for some reason the armed referees move us from the
front of the great hall gate, just look for people
waving war is terrible towels or listen for the
marching band.

ANY INDY MEDIA PEOPLE WHO WOULD LIKE TO DOCUMENT THIS
EVENT, YOUR HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Championship Children of Steel
by Mark Bradleo Yokim Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at 2:33 PM

The way I see it. Our parents were making love in Pittsburgh. You know during the 70's. Dad was just starting his job, or putting in the time, whatever. And then this team emerges that just helps you feel proud about your town. Adults mature through their happiness and more babies are born. Alas Championship Children. Yinz feel me. 74',75', 78', and 79' brought more to this town than a damn trophy or communal pride. A whole generation of Championship children that are you and me were born. Yeah I know, I'm full of shit. I wasn't raised on football, but yeah I like to see the black and gold win.

The way I see it there was a period of time were the Steelers unite for a common cause, to win. We can do this too. Through discipline and action we can focus our energies for the long-term. "W" and the Wars he wants to start aren't going to vanish tommorow. Can we get Bettis a Bus Pass? He could get two for 2 G's. How many iraqi house could I fill with the $40 million Inauguration Funds?

How can we, the gernation of children that were born out of victory help the world. Let's take the bloc to the field with love.

PS
This author was less than three months old when the Steelers won Superbowl XIII

Stop Bitching, Do Something
by Charity Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005 at 11:42 AM

You "steeler fans" wouldn't be bitching if Bettis was using his money to fund your goals of a socialist utopia... or at least the indymedia.org site. Why don't you little stalinists stop complaining about people who don't share your opinions and do something productive?

Do something more than use the publicity and success OF OTHERS to advance your agenda. Instead of doing your pointless protesting bitch-fest, go to Iraq. Go and help the people over there. Give them your money and time. Hell, instead of annoying a lot of people who just want to watch a football game, why don't you start a charity that doesn't go through these so-called non-profits and send ALL that aide to Iraq?

Or you could continue to bitch... asking a protestor to do something productive is like telling a baby not to poop.

giving kerry money....dumbasses!
by Ken Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005 at 9:46 AM

i'm not socialist/stalinist/anything else like that. I vote Green Party, including this election that just passed and wasted our time. Who cares if Bettis gave Bush money. He sucks regardless in my book. Shame to hear SEIU gave money to the idiot (Kerry). Hell i think if ur liberal and voted Kerry, you might as well have voted Bush. Makes just as much sense. As far as Iraq goes, plenty more countries in dire need of help and assistance that aren't gettin billions from our gov't now. But of course, your typical ignorant American conservative is only aware of the countries Fox News/CNN/etc talk about so those comments don't surprise me. Right now i barely have money to live let alone hand over to everyone else. But believe me i give what i can. Maybe if the USA would use our tax dollars for something other than overpriced, bullshit wars, then things might be a little better hmmm? Oh well i rarely post here so i thought i'd squeeze all my ramblings into one post.
Keep fighting TMC!! to hell with the FBI!!

airoy@hush.ai

What is all this ruckus? as we start the 75th season, where do you stand? What can we do about bringing them home? Any diplomatic solutions? Glad we won that Lombardi trophy in 06'. What will the Steelers do this year?
