I too applaud these types of actions.

Something like a banner drop might not seem like it would make a big difference, but it does. Like most actions it's not going to change the world by itself, but it contributes in a number of ways that together can have a large impact.

This was probably done by a small number of people, and probably seen by a couple hundred people. Doing these types of actions sends the message to others that they can do similar things. It creates a positive climate of creative resistance that re-inforces itself. One action can lead others to be like, hey that's cool me and my friends should get out there and do something.

It also helps to reach the public in a way, and at a time, where they may be more receptive to the message. They see the message but not the messenger, and because of this they aren't able to dismiss the message based on characteristics of the people involved (too punk, too young, too poor etc).

Depending on the location it also shows people that the people who did it were willing to put time and energy into doing something a little dangerous because they care about what's happening in the world. This can lead them to think they should make a bigger effort then they were to do something.

All in all, congrats-

I fist saw one of the banners driving on the Blvd of the Allies and was happy to see that some form of dissent is still alive in this city. I hope more actions like this take place. I just want to show my graditude to those who were involved. Thanks.

Kudos to all involved in the great banner drop. Your slogans and choice of location were quite impressive. You are a true inspiration to those of us organizing our own direct action events this summer. Lets keep building the momentum for peace.
