Pittsburgh Police to Carry stun Guns

The City is going Broke but they got money for Stun Guns

Some Pittsburgh City Police will soon be carrying stun guns. This will initially cost the city $120 thousand. The city is on the verge of going broke. The poor are about to get fucked over big time with regressive fees and tax hikes. Public services are about to get privatized. Then when we go out to let the ass holes (our elected policy makers) know just what we thing about all this we will get stun gunned. Fantastic! Everyhthing is going just as they want it to.

Oh good,

I'm sure they will only be used in life threatening situations where the officer would have otherwise used deadly force.

You know, just like we saw in Miami......

Those will really help them pick up their drug bribe payments and write parking tickets.

That'd be worth the $120K just to see that.

Broad side of a barn

Hopefully they can operate them better than their real guns. Like that sorry 'SWAT' team that was shot multiple times with a backup piece during a long standoff.
They need to stick to overseeing the North Side heroin trade and making sure commuters are using the downtown garages and not parking on the street. That's all they're good for.

stun guns or tasers?
by david Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 at 3:34 PM

what exactly are they getting? 50,000 volt pistols that fire 2 inch long projectiles over a distance of 20 feet (as were used in miami, and that actully killed somebody -- not a protester)? or are they getting the smaller, lower-voltage hand-held kind that are less "semi-lethal"?

also what's the source for this info?

Source of info

The first source was WPXI (Channel 11).
Since then, an article appeared in the City Paper (Dec, 24-31 issue) titled, "Shocking! Council Thinking Outside the Box," paragraph 5.
The article identifies these objects as "tasers"

Expensive toy payola
by Sandy Claws Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at 12:23 PM

They're garbage anyways.
I personally know a tiny woman who was hit with one in Miami and was able to tear the wires out of the toy gun, rendering it useless. It didn't stop her.

Now, I'm sure some of you homeskooled trolls and laid off-cops will start yammering about PCP, but to my knowledge she wasn't using it.

clarification

Stun guns are hand held devices that need to be pressed against a body to deliver a charge. I've been hit by one and it hurts but i wouldn't call it incapacitating. Tazers are hand held devices that fire barbed hooks that trail wires over short distances. The barbs are designed to catch clothing, skin etc. and one they do they deliver serious voltage (through wires)which will incapacitate. I've never read of a tazer gun or stun gun causing death. I can understand how one could, if the victim had a history of heart problems.

one step closer

the u.n. plan calls to disarm everyone, even police. they want the cops to only have non-lethal weapons so they wont be able to resist either. only global swats will have guns. wake up cops, they want your guns too.

T Wave Pocket Laxatives
by Prodigal Yunzer Tuesday, Jan. 06, 2004 at 11:30 AM

The cops use T wave guns, aka Tazers. The guns as delivered are "safe" in that the capacitors do not permit enough amperage to fry any synapses. The high voltage transmitted takes over your brain wave function, and causes various physiological responses, such as filling your pants. Police in Pittsburgh do not ordinarily carry lawbreakers in their patrol cars, so they won't mind that. Down south it is a consideration which sometimes prohibits use. A good Mag Light stroke to the temple or knee will do the same job without the stinkypants.
Anyone with a $10 to spend in Radio Shack can "fix" their standard issue Tazer so it won't be so "safe", taking the capacitors from picofarads to microfarads. You might have the occaisional tongues bitten through, but you won't have any little girls tearing out the stingers while they're getting the juice either. The cases are "tamper proof" so you'll need a teen ager to show you how to crack it open then re seal it like they do to the computer games they buy and return. that way, you won't fail inspection, and only a perp who can afford a decent lawyer will be a risk to check it out if you use it on him. And how many of them do you ever run across?
