Please join us for the premiere of the thought-provoking documentary, "The Image of Black Women" which covers how the current image of Black women and their portrayal by mass media affects real life women. We invite all participants to reflect on not only these individual women and their stories, but how women as a whole are affected by these caricatures and stereotypes. As we become more technologically advanced and have access to more images and information more rapidly, as a society we are also gradually becoming desensitized to violence and the voice of women. Where does this come from? Who benefits from the perpetuation of these lies? Let's discuss the root of these images and begin writing our own narrative! The premier starts Saturday, March 17th 6p at The August Wilson Center; afterwards there will be live performances and a cocktail reception to mingle and discuss these and other ideas.
